Corellian Conflict Campaign: What to do if you have more than 6 players?

By Mikael Hasselstein, in Star Wars: Armada

Hopefully this is more than an theoretical question (because that would mean a very healthy Armada scene), but I'm curious:

How would you handle a Corellian Conflict Campaign league if more than 6 people want to participate?

I'm sure there are plenty of community's that might struggle to get that many people to come out. Yet, in my experience with X-Wing, a league really helps people come out more and it boosts attendance numbers at the weekly game slot at the FLGS. So, what if it is likewise wildly successful Armada? Would you cap the participants at 6? ("Sorry, number 7, go play with the MtG kids!") Or, would you get inventive and figure out how to accommodate more people than the RAW cap of 6?

Ordered Two Copies.

6 Players - We get one Campaign of 6 with me included.

7 Players - We get one campaign of 6 with me doing Bookkeeping...

8 Players - We get TWO Campaigns of 4....

9 Players - We get TWO campaigns of 4, with me Doing Bookkeeping...

... We're just screwed if we get 14 people wanting to play.

BUT, its hard to envision what could be done without knowing more of the nitty-gritty of the rules for the campaign... There must have been a reason as to why they selected the limit that they did...

I mean, if tis a simple points-to-win mechanism, then I'm sure the table can be extended to accomodate the fact that more resources will flow (like the Spice...)

Lol

Order another copy :-D

if I get more than 6 players I'll just do a happy dance and then fall over dead from acute surprise.

Yeah, just based on what they've revealed to us, I'm not sure why there would be a cap.

Maybe the trick is to make a new map with MOAR systems and hyperlanes!

So, in the 7 players scenario - you've bought two copies and you don't even get to play. Dude, you screwed yourself!

Well, no, maybe not. I also enjoy being the host/GM/organizer, but I think I'll call myself the TO: take a goodie out of the kit, but decline to pay the $5 participation fee that the FLGS charges.

Am I alone in considering that any player who plays armada regularly is going to be getting a copy of the campaign anyway? Just for objectives and squadrons at the very least? Therefore you can split it up anyway you want to. 4 players and 3 players if you have 7 etc.

Also notice they gave a new objective card leak in the store kit picture?

Just wing it with more game copies. This is the perfect opportunity to make a custom map and some house rules!

If you get 8 you can have all involded in discussion making. And building fleets. But they route in and out for fights

Quite often, take my 2+ hour trip, each way, across town, to go to play Armada, and end up sitting alone at the FLGS.......

So I get screwed worse quite often - at least this way, I'm still actively involved in keeping things exciting for others - and THAT is what I consider important.

Yes, they did - it's not a green one, and it has a rank insignia at the bottom - which is the alt-art part of it, I'm guessing.

They also mention that it's a faction-specific objective. Do you figure we're getting faction-specific objectives, or it's just faction-specific alt-art for the kit?

If you were an Imperial, I'd say that you're going a glorious thing for a grand cause.

But you're not.

So I won't.

Ordering two copies sounds silly. Everyone is going to want their own copy - you should have an overflowing abundance of copies. I mean seriously - the squadrons alone are worth it, plus the cool new objectives, the second station.... all of that!

Our group in London is probably falling foul of this.

Splitting into two games is probably my least favourite solution.

It's difficult to say what the best solution is though before we can read the rules, but I'm hoping to be able to have a 4th battle per round, which keeps the same 'no duplicates' rule, but doesn't give campaign points.

Ideally we would be able to have some sort of impact from that game, without upsetting the balance of the rest of the game.

I don't disagree.

But I know that with some people, it will only be after the fact, and I, as a league organiser and designer, cannot in good faith poach someone elses things in order to run what I run...

For what you do are you able to get in on the kit rather than the retail box?

My local store will, of course, investigate the possibility of having a league kit to go along with me running the Corellian Campaign itself... But on that front, I'm both a slave to the circumstance (I won't be considered a retailer until I put in a order of a few thousand dollars), and, being in Canada, we don't deal direct with FFG.

We have to deal with Lion Rampant.

The oh-so-classy Distributors who only delivered the first batch of Imperial Assault Skirmish Maps last week, despite FFG stating that they were available to purcahse almost 3 months ago.

No no no, not like that. You don't simply do bookkeeping. You become the designated pinch hitter. At 6+ players odds are that at least one person won't be able to attend on any given week, so you get to fill in for them that day.

Re: ordering 2 copies

You may not need more than one copy of CC to run a larger league, but if there's a chance you'll get more than 6 players I'd encourage your flgs to open set more than one copy of the league kit so you have enough prizes to go around!

The trouble is ordering the OP Kit itself via the store.

The store is happy to.

Lion Rampant... I really wish we could get a different Canadian Distributor for this half of the Country....

What? The store is happy to blame lion you mean.

I'm sure you have a different view of things, being that you are there...

But I've dealt with my own missent kits, forced returns, and mis-distributed kits... All in the past 12 months.

Play 6 vs 6. or more :P

Then there is never enough shared resource points for all to get all scared ship or squadrons repaired.

And Fleets won't grow to large beyond the 400pts mark ;)

Can you play the Corellian Conflict with just two players?

Can you play the Corellian Conflict with just two players?

Yup

Can you play the Corellian Conflict with just two players?

The box says 2-6

The way it has been presented is to say that there are multiple fleets each side - even if there are fewer players than fleets.

If 8 players, split into two teams of two players. Each pair faces of against an opposing faction pair.

However, special rule: Resource points can be shared amongst same faction pairs....! Doing badly on one campaign map? Dont worry they've got your back in the alternate dimension!
