Dormitz and 2 Sigmas

By Stubby, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Lieutenant Dormitz (PS3), Fire Control System, operations specialist

2x Sigma Squadron Pilot (PS3 TIE Phantom), Fire Control System, Gunner

Three ships, all PS3 with Attack 4. Operation Specialist synergies with the Gunners. Any thoughts?

Those low PS Phantoms will eithe go pop before they shoot once, or you'll need some really fancy and patient flying

Um yeah, FCS+Gunner on generic phantoms is not the best choice, imho (although its fine for Whisper).

Sigma w/ FCS, recon spec & stygium = 32 (same point cost as above) and is considerably more durable.

Another good choice is rebel captive on one and intel agent on the other (I've used that to good effect). You can even afford to put sensor jammer on the one with rebel captive (the two upgrades have great synergy).

While i agree that you want a more defensive build on the Phantoms, you might want Stygium Prticle Accelerator instead of ACD. The reason for this is that while ACD is great on the named pilots, it only activates when you shoot. So while on a PS 8 or 9, that's fine, on a PS 3 it's not that good. Stygium gives you an evade token, which will help keep you alive on the turns where you decloak. Also, the double focus from RecSpec is huge, because when you toss a huge pile of dice like you tend to do with a Phantom, you will need those focuses.

Finally, i really don't know how easy it would be to fly the Phantoms. With the high Ps pilots, you just fly around erratically and wreck stuff, but i'm really not sure how to fly the generics. My personal favourite is Echo, because you can do the most insane stuff.

But anyways the basic idea of the list looks pretty good. I wish you luck.

That was supposed to be Stygium, actually (if you add up the points, you can see it works out for stygium, not ACD). I corrected my post, thanks!

As to flying generic phantoms, well, they kinda fly just like TIE fighters, except they have a really big gun!
