So with no Wolfpack to contend with anymore, I'm seriously considering just shoving 2x Deltas and a Patrol Leader on the table and calling it a day!

With X7 title, leaves 4pts for flavour. Could bump the Deci to Oicunn to leave 2pts but I'm leaning towards Vader and maybe an Intel Agent to help the Deltas instead.

It's such a simple list I feel like I'm missing something but it should have some game against Palp aces with the Vader Deci and potential to get good blocks. Should be ok for focus firing in rebel regen. Fast enough ships to chase down Manaroo though I could see Dengar eating the Deci in short order. Not saying any of those are 'easy' but I think I'd have game against them. Could see Fangs being a problem, especially Teroch?

The thing you'll really struggle with is high PS arc dodgers. The Deci can shoot at them, but not effectively, whilst the Deltas will struggle to get arc usefully.

It's a tough list but it has major weaknesses.

Oddly, I'd disagree that Dengaroo is one of them. You joust dengar. None of your ships should die in round 1, especially if he burns his reaction shot on the deci or you're at range 2+, he should take at least a couple of points of damage, then you lose one in round two and kill him for his trouble Cleaning up Mana shouldn't be hard at that stage.

It's certainly not bad though.

Imho the list will have game vs arc dodgers because of vader and blocks. But the deci needs to avoid taking concentrated fire from the aces early on in order to get the most out of vader. Setting up a block on one of the aces with the decimator first round of combat is a good strategy. The aces player will knwo he needs to deal with the deci first. Try to use this to your advantage.

I am 5-2 with this list! it is a beast. its true, when the deci goes down the deltas struggle to keep up with higher PS ships, however the advantage of them are blocking the higher skill pilots. knowing your k turns and manuevers will not be blocked (unless by you of course lol), and MOST importantly it makes it easy to make choices on token spending. more skilled opponents will take the Deci right away, make them pay. if anyone dares run into defenders....keep deci on the edge of the board and when those enemy shields start disappearing let patrol leader eat their lunch. dont know how competitive it is, but it sure is fun!

I've never actually played it, but I've seen it in action and it doesn't have any of the 'major weaknesses' mentioned by previous posters. Its good against aces (provided you are good at the game) and its good against jousters. Not saying its the best list ever, but its solid, no question. Even if TLTs and rebel regen comes back, it can handle both of those just fine.

It's only good against aces if you're better than your opponent. Otherwise, it depends on the aces, and some luck -- Vader doesn't help much, if he only ever hands out crap crits (speaking from experience). Without Gunner, even Vader might not be enough to kill of a "flimsy" ace.

And the Deltas will require solid, unpredictable flying.

This list brings plenty of pain, but its in the "high skill" category, if you plan on having success with it.

What about just slapping the engine on the Patrol leader and call it good?

I'm thinking it's not worth losing Vader for. Low PS and unmodified shots doesn't make a good engine carrier for me.

Vader and Intel Agent on the Patrol Leader should help a lot against aces.

This list got two games last night. I was running my tourney list for the weekend so handed this to my lad who has only ever played half dozen games, the last being maybe a year ago.

Game one he faced a Whisper who deployed as far away from the Deci as possible. It only delayed the inevitable chuckles of yeah let me just Vader that.. basically traded the Deci for Whisper and a generic proto advanced. The two Deltas then wrecked the S/F (I think Back draft).

Second game against a Ketsu-Fenn list didn't go so well. He flew one of the Deltas off full health and the Deci basically killed itself dealing with Fenn. Could have been very different with both Defenders in play.

I was playing on the table next to him and keeping an eye out. I was really impressed with how the list performed. It was forgiving of his mistakes as a new player while being able to punish his opponents (who were both great sports with him of course) mistakes.

Looking forward to running it myself even more now!
