Targeting Synchronizer wording

By digitalbusker, in X-Wing Rules Questions

When a friendly ship at Range 1-2 is attacking a ship you have locked, the friendly ship treats the " Attack (Target Lock}: " header as " Attack: ". If a game effect instructs that ship to spend a target lock, it may spend your target lock instead.

So, why doesn't this just say "When a friendly ship at Range 1-2 is attacking, it may treat your Target Locks as its own."?

Is it just about not overpowering Omega Leader, or is it meant to give you the ability to fire TL-eating ordnance or activate TL-fueled effects (like Omega Ace's all-crit attack option) without giving you the ability to spend the Target Lock for the basic reroll effect.

Probably because it restricts the use of Target Synchronizer to weapons with Attack:Target Lock in the header. It is not granting the basic use of a Target Lock to a friendly ship.

Probably both of the things you suggest. Also, to avoid overpowering ATC.

There are a couple of things like omega leader or advanced targeting computer. Also you can't actually willingly spend the lock here, you can't just reroll dice normally. The specific wording make the card only assist ordnance weapons or things requiring discarding a target lock.

Yeah i'd agree its so it specifically only works with ordnance via attack[tl] and nothing else.

ATC users, OL, or any high-dice attack that missed would go nuts.
