I believe the Resistance Transport (or Transporter) is coming to X-wing by Wave 11 or 12... and I will bet an expansion pack that it will. Until then I wanna fly this Micro Machines version with home brew rules. I plan on painting this one...or just paint the weapons pod red and equip the C-3PO crew card for thematic emphasis.

Depends on what Episode 8 brings us. So right now we have had TFA stuff before Wave 8 was fully released. We have Rouge One ships with wave 10 assuming that they don't pull the same trick where the movie stuff is released on the same time as the movie and the rest of the wave is held back.

So two waves a year and a couple of special releases (Gozanti, Imperial Veterans). So wave 12 will be Episode 8 stuff most likely. Wave 11 the could finish some of the episode 7 material with that resistance transport and a new Leia upgrade. Wave 11 might have the transport but the resistance troop transport is more obscure than Kylo Rens shuttle.

Yeah it's ugly, and with he U-Wing coming out, I'm not sure it really adds anything new.

Ugly isn't enough reason to stop the merchandising. The Ghost is an obese stop sign with guns, but that hasn't hurt sales.

The Ghost has a certain charm... but I'm not sure this has any redeeming features... If ships could speak it would say "Kill me... please kill me"

The Resistance transport looks like something a fringe group would scrape together. "Sorry General Organa; The Republic wouldn't give us troop transports, so we welded a shipping container to a fighter that's almost as old as you." It also gives me a feeling; the Rebellion I grew up with is part of this ship. Seeing it in space with the Falcon is also symbolic of Han and Leia's separate paths and broken relationship.

I have a mixed bag of formulated opinions about the Ghost, but no feelings. It doesn't make me feel anything when I see it on screen, except for occasionally being annoyed by the things they do with it.

I have an unhealthy hate for this ship.

My feeling is that if Scum can't have Tye-Wings which are about as iconic a scum ship as you can get because FFG don't want uglies, we really shouldn't have a 1 off cobbled together transport ugly.

A couple years back I heard an interview where (IIRC) Davies said Uglies were the only ships Disney said they couldn't do.

Depends on the dial. With good greens, I could see PTL and coordinate being a common build.

It would be interesting to let it have a cannon slot, but also a special cannon upgrade slot that let it take 2 torpedoes instead.

And to give it real punch for its 2 attack dice: a 5 point unique title that gives the primary weapon Auto blaster functionality.

Huh! I just realized there's some nice synergy with Han Solo crew and Weapons Guidance.

It's not just Disney QA, it's ILM, which has always been the best arm of Lucasarts. There were 781 designs for the U-wing; 780 that didn't make the cut to be our new ship for Rogue One. I'm sure the Resistance Transport was subject to adequate scrutiny.

LOOK closer... the photos in all books and scenes in the movie look as if there are 2 cannons on the weapons pod like the B-wing, besides the blasters.

The standard armament consisted in a Gyrhil R-9X heavy laser cannon , but sometimes other weapons were added: an ion cannon , a proton torpedo launcher and two autoblasters beneath the cockpit. In the standard version a precision targeting laser helped the pilot.

Standard armament is the heavy laser and a laser pointer, but the Ion Cannon, Autoblaster, and torp is optional.
