Is the Kihraxz in any RPG Book or Supplement?

By Rocmistro, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

The subject says it all; does the Kihraxz show up in any of the currently published supplements? If so, which one?

I don't believe so. This site is good for crossreferencing stuff.

According to Wookieepedia, that ship was designed for use by Black Sun, see http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Kihraxz_assault_fighter

I haven’t seen any books published by FFG that would be oriented towards that organization. The closest would have been “Lords of Nal Hutta”, which was oriented towards the Hutts and not Black Sun.

So, I wouldn’t expect to find that ship detailed in any current FFG book, although there might be something in the future.

Perhaps there will be something in no desintegrations.

Ok thanks for the feedback, guys.

If it is published in a future FFG book, then that would almost certainly be something from the EotE line, as opposed to AoR or F&D.

The story behind the Kihraxz just doesn’t fit well with those other lines.

Meanwhile, that might be something that has been statted unofficially, perhaps by our own illustrious LibrariaNPC. Check those threads, just in case.

Apparently I have been summoned. *laughs*

I did a stat block of the Kihraxz about three years ago. You can find it in my Fighter Creation Thread. Granted, there was a tone of eyeballing because our selection was limited at that time (and I didn't go back to restat everything), but there's some good bones there for you to work with.

Enjoy!

Uhm, seems to be quite powerful and way off compared to FFGs interpretation of the ship as basically an X-Wing equivalent with more customisation options and without an astromech. (X-Wing TMG).

Speed 6 seems very uncalled for and 5 hardpoints make it completely op, most likely the best ship in the game compared to all official released ships, Squint speed should not taken lightly and 5 hard points mean the option to add a astromech socket, ECM, nightshadow coating, and either add a secondary transponder or change the blasters to ions and add a decent quad-lasers for reliable maximum punch.

It would be a sick ship blasting away everything else in the game, including defenders and interceptors with ease.

Note that when I statted this, all we had to work with was Edge of the Empire; the other splatbooks hadn't even been released yet, and I didn't have access to the AoR Beta. Also, as I said in my post, the ship involved a TON of eyeballing, as it was supposed to be a heavily armored and agile fighting that, in theory, should have been at X-Wing level. Statting this was an attempt to have something that was superior to the other ships we had at the time.

After more books came out, I didn't get around to editing the previous ships.

To be completely transparent: I started to get invited to playtests not long after my threads took off. You'll find my name in Fly Casual, Chronicles of the Gatekeeper, Endless Vigil, and at least one more rules supplement I can't say anything about, as well as a few other sporadic game titles.

During these playtests, I would sometimes run into ships I had already posted on the forums or I'd run into ships that I had statted but didn't release (and now can't due to the NDA). I also haven't edited some ships because some of them did appear in playtest materials, and as I can't say what ships they were (it's in the NDA), I've avoided making changes and running into situations of "You changed <ship>, why didn't you update <other ship>?"

Some may call it laziness, but I'm just covering my six to ensure I don't violate the NDA or create some other form of headache.

All that said: my stats are completely unofficial stats. If anything, they're just how I portrayed them with the materials I had at the time. Are they accurate? Sometimes, they are pretty spot on. Sometimes, they are FAR from the mark.

I've also mentioned that anyone is free to tweak the stats as needed; they're more like guidelines, after all. Do what works best for your table.

Looking back, I'd probably tone it down to Speed 5, and drop hardpoints to 3. This would make it as fast, maneuverable, and as armored as a TIE, but have shielding to improve survivability. The upgraded version could probably stay the same without a major issue, as it puts it closer to X-Wing status with the extra armor, +1 Hull/System, and +1 shield, but making it less customizable.

Hey, hey, hey, I love the kind of community work you did with your Starship Yard.

I was just harsh with those specific ship stats, because they really need some rework in context of overall balance. It was in no means meant as general critic of you or your work. Jus as something to consider when adjusting the values.

I am not familiar enough with the Kihraxz to really fine tune the ship myself, reducing speed and hardpoints sounds like a good start.

And btw, I could write a similar harsh critic to the official TIE Defender values, which leave a lot to be desired for a ship which is supposed to be the most advanced fighter in the galaxy. The official stats for the defender are really depressing.

Sorry if I came off as harsh; been a rough time lately (fixing a house, games collapsing, etc) and didn't keep my usual typing buffer. I also wanted to take the opportunity to voice why some ships haven't really changed, as I've been getting a few messages asking about that and if/when I'll get around to posting more ships.

I have to agree with you; the Defender was REALLY lackluster. If anything, I think Fighters start to blur after a while, because you have to keep them within a certain frame of capabilities, which makes them rather limited and gives little wiggle room for stats. It's a pity and by far the hardest part of continuing with statting ships, honestly.
