Still the Rebels should have had a Lambda shuttle before they got a TIE Fighter.
Edited by MarinealverI'm not really concerned about it. The worst you can do is probably EMP a TIE swarm onto a Proton Bomb, and you're paying 30ish points for that. Nit bad, but not game breaking either.
I dislike the idea behind the ability. I don't think it's that thematic in a 3 faction game. It makes sense vs. Imperials, but none whatsoever vs. Scum or Rebels. Then it's an ability that controls the opponent's behaviour and there's nothing he can do about it.

And it should be pointed out, this is yet another classic FFG Preview Mistake tm and doesn't actually work without a second ship to drop the bomb. The EMP hits the TIE as well, and no dial reveal = no bomb drop.
Thematically, they should have made it so that you could replace an opponent's fighter with the Stolen TIE as long as it hasn't fired yet. How trollsy would it be to have one of the back TIEs of a swarm suddenly light up on the fighter in front of it or even EMP them right before they got within shooting range?
As impossible to do in game as a true cloaking device concept, but I'd pay a dollar to watch it happen in a tournament final.

Torkil
Toark hard counters torkil. Torkil happens at the end of activation, roark is start of combat
VI Ahsoka is the obvous answer, but...
Roark/Captian Rex, to give Rex that first attack so he can nerf sombody without exploding first.
I am waiting uptil someone uses captured TIE and emp device on VI Ahsoka to fly an entire TIE swarm off the board.
Given that EMP device is one-use only, I am not sure that is likely.
Keep it cheap and cheerful.
Ahsoka, VI, Masterpiece, BMST.
Throw in Rey or a Recon Spec if you have some points.

That build is absolutely sickening. Would really hack me right off, if I had a PTL squad against that.
Having played it
Nope
Not ev3n a little
Higher ps? Cant block. Lower ps? Get shot
Cloaking Device. Can block. Well, a bit.

The absolute point
Deals well with palp aces, even if some of them can potentially shoot you. Even if your opponent has no stress stuff, you're only wasting a single point and can use Ahsoka to hand out extra actions.
Not sure it's worth even 21 points, but it fills a gap the rebels have quite nicely.
If people are going to pay points for a PS9 TIE Fighter that cannot shoot and only hand out a free action to a ship at range 1 when it spends a focus then I will happily blast the rest of the list and wait.
People seem to forget that not being the target of an attack doesn't make you safe from other abilities. Ketsu can still pick you as the target of a tractor beam and put you on a rock. Asajj can still assign you a stress token and you can still be BMST in the following round. Ion Torp / Assault Missile / Ruthlessness splash damage still affect a Captured TIE. Cluster / Proximity and Conner Nets still affect a Captured TIE as does regular bombs.
Carnor Jax can stop the focus ability, Palob can still steal the tokens, Dace can cause anyone that uses EMP to take a damage, Colzet can still flip a damage card assign to a Captured TIE face up. The list goes on and on.
Hell, you can kill it without even firing at it - Cluster drop + two hits + Sabine Crew = Dead TIE.
This is going to be a gimmick at best.
I ask myself: Will there be a tournament errata that a captured TIE counts as destroyed if it's the last ship of the player when time's up?
Imagine a TIE (PS < 9) ace vs VI Ahsoka (who hadn't attacked the whole game) as last ships on the map.
So the Rebel player just has to fly circles.
Edit: I could have remembered the card mentions this... But I don't.

You may have missed this but . . The card does state to discard it if you are the last remaining ship in your fleet.

Yeah remembered it the moment after I clicked the "post" button -.-

Classic.
I haven't done that on the forums (yet) but I have done that many times when texting people. Fingers work faster than the brain some times.
I think Sabine is going to be the diamond in this list. A double action PS5 TIE with boost is quite enticing.
I don't have one nor have I flown against one....so, I don't have personal knowledge or experience.
However, I understand you can't shoot the stolen one; but I saw a K-Wing Conner net the twisted stolen TIE with it's rebellious yellow abhorrence master that set-up their very quick demise this weekend. That was extremely thematic in my opinion! Sweet!
I think people are going to be using it as a EMP delivery system and for that, I think it is seriously over costed for such a gimmick. Other lists are going to be able to deliver that blast to greater effect.
As for Ashoka, a U wing will be able to perform the job better, at longer range and offer more in a match with it's attack dice. I mean, Ashoka may be able to hand out a free action to someone at the beginning of the shooting phase, so essentially PS12 but its at range 1 and who would really benefit from that?
Corran? Why is he range 1 of Ashoka in the first place?
Biggs? Nope.
Dash? Again, why are they within range 1 of each other?
Can't think of anyone that would really see a use of it beyond being given an action due to them bumping.

Herself. Run captured TIE, spend your focus token to Slice people.
I just thought of a hysterical anti Palp Aces idea.
Roark to boost to PS 12.
Ashoka w/ PTL, Black Market Slicer Tools and Saboteur crew.
She won't be attacked. She can use one action for BMST and then Saboteur to try to flip the damage! She could kill the Inquisitor in a single round if it were Direct Hit!
Yes, not the most competitive of lists, but still funny.

Anyone with ordnance that needs a target lock to fire? Granting them a TL at the start of the combat phase is handy.

Is there something that got spoiled outside of the article? I'm not seeing anything in the U-Wing expansion that grants actions at the start of the combat phase.

Ashoka's ability.
I meant on the U-Wing that Viktus106 is claiming can do a better job.
Ahh... Viktus106 never claimed the U-Wing gave an action either... He was noting that the U-wing lacked that ability... May we call this whole side trip a misunderstanding and move on?
That said I think I prefer the TIE better as support myself simply for the price and simplicity of it. I can see the U-Wing providing MORE support with the extra crew slots, but it's going to be vulnerable and more points.
