Just bought myself a Shadowcaster, want to play with my new toy - currently thinking about this list.

Question is, do I keep tactician on Asaaj Ventress (for the double stress, and thus more chance of Black Market slicers on the Z-95s getting to do their job), or do I put Latts Razzi on to keep the Caster alive for longer, but then am I just wasting points on BMST?

Thoughts anyone?

BMST is never a waste of points. Even if you only get one damage out of it, it was worth the 1 point. Plus it makes your opponent play differently, maybe denying himself PTL action in fear that BMST will trigger.

About Asajj, I would put Latts Razzi. Stress is not a very big factor right now and the only ships that really hurt are Palp Aces, which you have BMST and Teroch for. I think that defense is better that a single stress.

I agree with @fok12 Latts > tactician. With Asajj reliably dealing the stress it will trigger nearly every time, even against things like defenders that don't necessarily stress themselves. It's almost a free evade a turn. Ask x7 players if that is any good.

Latts seems like it was designed with Asajj in mind. I used her in a tournament and the amount of damage that Latts saved was huge.

I played close to this build, only diff was a y wing over old teroch, at a tourney this weekend. People hate the double stress you can deal with asajj and tactician. That said I know latts can save you. I demolished Brobots with the stress and only a few bmst "shots."

I just played a few games with the following:

Asajj

PtL, Latts, Glitterstim, Title, Gyroscope

Syndicate Thug x2

TLT, Unhinged

Latts saved my bacon several times. I will say that this PS spread doesn't really care much for a one point bid unless your against crack ****/HLC brobots, and there were several times when I just didn't have a decent second action to take, so I'm strongly considering BMST myself, even if I rarely use it. Just bear in mind that it has anti-synergy with Latts.

Also, be careful with the gyroscope. If you are decent and predicting where your opponent is going, it is AWESOME. However, it might as well be a neon sign telegraphing at least the bearing of your next move.

Having flown against it a couple of times, Assaj/Latts is really, really tough to crack. Between PTL focus/evade, Assaj's ability, and Latts, you're more or less guaranteeing that the first attack against you per round will miss entirely. Average amount of evades is something like 3.5.

It's particularly mean to Mindlink lists where you then get Latts against ALL incoming shots if you get it against any.

Seems like Latts is the winner then. I'll be playing around with various builds in my next few games but I'm closing in on an Asajj caster going into tournaments until wave 10 hits I think.

Yeah I've found that too in the couple games I have played, I have managed a double-bluff at one point using Gyro to get my arc facing rearwards, then action to shift it to the left predicting (correctly) that my opponent would move to that side to avoid the rear facing arc.

It's a fun ship the shadowcaster.

Then there are the players who really don't pay attention to it and get Ryad stressed, shot, and tractored into a debris field for their trouble*. And then when you block an ace so they have no shot, then stress them, shoot them and tractor them away from the blocker so the blocker can shoot them. "Darth Vader, you just got killed by a Y-Wing's primary weapon. How does that make you feel?"

"Nooooooooooo!!!!!!!"

Man, I love this ship.

*Quick PSA: it turns out x7 Defenders don't really care about stress all that much, they just hit a little weaker for a turn or two...

I actually like dengar a whole lot on Asajj. Allows you to do whatever you need to in the turn with push then still have good attack modification. I haven't tried latts but I imagine that build runs a risk of not hitting that hard though the defense seems solid.

It really depends on how you want Ventress to work. I feel Ventress with Latts is a bit more defense. While Tactican is more offensive.

With Tactican you can stress two different ships as well. One from the mobile arc and one from the front arc if you decide to shot from the front arc. Which can help out the Zed's with their BMST's.

I personally like Tactican more. Helps out with the title as well. Double stressing and tractering a ship. Really good control aspect. Especially if you can get Onyo on another ship. I run PTL over VI though. Which really helps Latts as well. You can evade and focus for maximum evade chance. Or target lock and evade to have both offense and defense.

Either way she is fun to fly.

I totally agree, and it depend also on the meta:

- if you play vs a lot of dengaroo or aces / push the limit, Latts sounds better because you will have more from him.

- Vs defenders, double stress seem to be more important, for sure only one stress (and if you BMST): will be useless...

I was thinking on making the same kind of composition:

I tried with a Dengar but this last on is too light and with his Agility <2>, he is not very resilient.

Assaj is very interesting : hard to fly with but very interesting (a lot of options).

Here the list I will train with now :)

AssajY2- v2 (100)

Asajj Ventress (50) - Lancer-class Pursuit Craft

Push The Limit (3), Latts Razzi (2), Glitterstim (2), Black Market Slicer Tools (1), Shadow Caster (3), Gyroscopic Targeting (2)

Syndicate Thug (25) - Y-Wing

Twin Laser Turret (6), Unhinged Astromech (1)

Syndicate Thug (25) - Y-Wing

Twin Laser Turret (6), Unhinged Astromech (1)

Tractor beam is very interesting with the Y, the Astromech will help to fly close to Assaj (and his high speed greens).

As everyone I hesitate :

- Glitter or Inertial dampener?

- Latts for sure to be more defensive (with 2Y...) but Dengar is another option or tactician. I will try everything :P

Not a funny list in term of flight but a very interesting in term of placement and controls :)
