No Talk About Westworld? (Spoilers)

By FTS Gecko, in X-Wing Off-Topic

Three episodes in, it's promising to be a really good show.

Haven't heard of it... Ah it's on HBO so I won't be seeing it.

It's very good.

From what I've read about it, it's very blade runner/A.I. stuff. The whole androids becomming sentient stuff.

Ok admitedly becoming self aware is bad when you are basically a sexbot in an amusment park in wich you get shot dead every day. Especially if you have a emotion sub program. (Why would somebody make that?)

So forgive me if I'm wrong, but I believe the show's story (so far) can be summed up like this:

The original movie is of course a classic! The man in black in that is freaky nightmarish stuff. I actually believe the man in black was the inspiration for the Terminator, although I don't think James Cameron would admit it. They are both robots designed to terminate their foes, only walk, and are completely unstoppable in their pursuit of the main character. West World came out in 1973 whereas Terminator 1984, that's a decade apart.

Fun fact the original West world is the first movie to reference a computer virus and was the basis Michael Crichton (who also wrote West World) used to later write Jurassic Park.

The show for those who don't know is similar but far more existential and expanded upon.

I have them lined up and ready to go, just haven't had any time to watch.

Fell asleep watching this last night. This is no reflection of the show .. but how life is with a sick 8 mnth old youngen who requires your attention the entire night before.

Looks promosing and enjoyed what I saw .. Then again, so was The 100.

Holy moly this show is good. I have never been watching a show and liked it so much that I don't want to read the book and reveal anything.

What fraction of the techs and employees who are main characters are actually hosts?

Luckily, there is no book to spoil the show. It is based on two old movies by Michael Crichton. Which are very much not affecting the current show.

So many fan theories and ideas doing the rounds at the moment, I'm just looking forward to seeing where the story goes.

Ford is getting scarier with each passing episode. No surprise there considering who's playing him...

I started this recently based on this thread. Thanks for that! It's pretty good. I just finished the 3rd episode. Dang, I want to watch more! This last episode really got into the meat of it.

This show is amazing and I want to discuss it more.

Spoiler: FTS Gecko is a Host.

As is the XG-1 Assault Gunboat.

And it only gets better. Hopkins is in TOP form.

We could say anyone who gives canned responses to subjects is a host.

example: Heychadwick always goes on about Casual X-wing whenever he has a chance. I think he's a host.

You're new. Not much of a rind on you.

Sloppy with your drink?

Season finale night, then no new episodes until probably 2018. Dagnamit.

Well that was a hell of a finale.

I want to see Samurai World.

It's going to be a long wait for 2018...

Wow....so I finally got caught up! I had to explain a few bits to my wife as we watched, but I really enjoyed it. Crazy.

So....where do they go from here? I mean, that was perfect right there. I can see them end it. Where will they go after this season? Once they do, I am sure there will be a ton of people saying that the show has gone down hill as soon as they left the park/robits took over/ whatever.
