I've been playing triple Ds a lot lately and have usually gone for the Delta, Ryad, Vessery build. I'm seeing a lot of high PS fangs lately in my meta, and I was now thinking of trying to up my PS game a bit bringing Rexler into the fold instead of Vessery.

Rexler with VI, Twin Ion engines, Title

Ryad with Juke, Twin Ion engine, Title

Delta with Title

Brings me to 100 even. It provides me with a high PS D with a good (nasty) pilot ability (while a bit reliant on luck unless I've got TL, at least the high PS should allow me to retain the focus to trigger the ability and maybe prevent a shot in return) but at the cost of more reliable damage output from Vessery (I always run him with juke).

Anyone have any success with Rexler in the X7 title or thoughts on what would be a preferrable way to go? I've seen a couple of builds with Rexler using the Tie/D title, but I partial to the X7 and three Ds in the list.

I played with Rexler at a tournament recently and the high PS was a definite plus. Only managed to trigger his ability once but it's a 'nice to have' that worked out well.

I had predator on him as well, but you're obviously a bit strapped for points and VI puts him in front of most aces fpr shooting so no issues there.

I question Ryad with Juke. She shoots at PS5 so the evade might very well be gone. I would rather put PtL on her and getting the point by taking the Twin ion from Rexler.

Agreed that PTL or predator on Ryad would be preferred, as juke can be very situational, but as stress is coming back more those Ion engines sure are nice to have to open up more maneuver options for Rexler. Maybe drop VI for adaptability on Rexler for that extra point.

I get the argument about Juke on the PS5 Ryad, but Rexler should be the priority target so if they both fire at the same target, Juke on Ryad should help. Here's another option:

Rexler (Predator, x7 title)

Ryad (Juke, x7 title)

Delta (x7 title)

To me, Predator is almost auto-include on Rexler. It brings him to 38 points, but can be well worth it and should help trigger his ability by focusing every turn.

I like that build. Still a bit worried about stress on Rexler. I guess Ryad should be fine without the Ion engines due to her green options.

I've been running Rex with x7, Predator, and Mk2 Engines lately. VI not as useful, in my experience, because even if you catch an ace in arc, they can usually PTL to Focus/Evade and you'll have a hard time pushing damage through. I've found that PS8 works fine most of the time on him because he's tough enough to shrug off most shots from higher PS ships, but with enough PS to either arc dodge or PS-kill lower PS ships. While the Mk2 Engines are definitely solid right now, you might think about dropping one from him or Ryad to upgrade VI to Lone Wolf or Juke. Both are potentially really good on him.

Yeah, keeping the ion engine on him, while trusting in Ryads green shenanigans could be the way to go. Then put juke on both of them. Thanks.

Rexler with PTL is IMO WAY better than Predator because you can get TL and Focus or Arc Dodge and Focus - which is more effective than relying on Predator and having to trade your focus for when you need to arc dodge. Rexler without Focus is largely a waste of points. I run the Onyx over Delta because predator is in my meta. But if i went Delta i would run:

• Rexler (PTL, x7 Title, Mk II) 39pts
• Ryad (x7) 32pts
• Delta (x7) 28pts

I'd keep the 99 for better chance at initiative, and give Rexler more options for burning stress

All of that said, i prefer both of the following 2 defender builds:

• Rexler (PTL, x7 Title, Mk II) 39pts
• Ryad (x7) 32pts
• Omnicron (Palpatine) 29pts

OR...

• Rexler (PTL, x7 Title, Mk II) 39pts
• Ryad (PTL, x7) 35pts
• Omega Leader (Comm, Juke) 26pts

One other three defender build i have run with success was....
