Squadron anti slide base inlay

By Tokra, in Star Wars: Armada Painting and Modification

I had some really big trouble with these squadron bases. They are way to slippery on some of the mats.

It was really bad at the nationals in germany. You could play curling on these mats.

So i used some silicone rubber casting compound to make a mold for the bases.

They are really great and work on all surfaces. especially on extremely glossy ones. They stick really well on these.

If anyone has interest in testing these, let me know. I will (if all goes well) be at the worlds.

What brand of silicone? Might have to try this myself.

Very, very interested right here! Squadrons sliding around are the most annoying part of the game to me!

It is called Koeraform A50

Type: RTV-2 silicone (addition)

I am sure there are tons of other (similar) products like this.

Thanks!

I want! My friend and I play on a ping pong table and continuously argue if ships or squads got bumped or 'janked' into new engagements or firing arcs. Are they glued on or would it be possible to make them detachable?

They look like they can pop out based on the picture...

Speaking of silicone jogged my imagination, has anyone tried just filling the bases with a self-leveling silicone based caulk? Seems like that might accomplish the same goal, but for about $.86.

Even when the post is old, the bases are still really great 😁

Just for info. I will be at Worlds next week.
If anyone want some of the bases, let me know. I just need to know how many i have to make.

I’ll vouch for the concept - I have some very similar bases (got them from @Brikhause ) and they’re great! No sliding around or tipping over, and it’s super easy to adjust the damage dial with one hand.

Highly recommended!
