So a little while ago I finished modifying my new Protectorate Starfighter, and I thought I would make an animation of the wings. I intend to go back and touch up the paint a bit more, as well as adding an engine glow, but this was good enough for the angle I was shooting from.

I ended up using 38 frames for one full rotation. The .gif knocked that down to 26 frames @ 20 fps.
That's really cool. I kind of dislike moveable parts on the ships, but I've considered modding mine to be in mid-rotation (when I get around to buying one!)
I do like you solution for mounting it to the base.
I got the black-coated copper wire from Wal-Mart's jewelry section for about $2.50. Since the ship's peg would interfere with the rotation, it has to be moved, and the most elegant solution is to use the wire that becomes the axle as the support as well.

I decided to go with magnets and reconfigure for my B-Wing Pegs
(I'd already magnetized them when i converted my B-Wings)
I just need to do the other 3 and repaint

The Protectorate is becoming one of my Favorite ships.......its a menace on the table and is a great looking ship.

Thanks, Barry! I've always liked the little scum ships. The tiny flying wing design of the Syck and the Protectorate is really cool. I'm really looking forward to bringing Fenn Rau to the table with his crazy extra dice mechanic.
I will need to buy a better cutting tool before I do more modifications like this one; I thought my X-Acto was up to the task, but I managed to ruin one of the blades cutting through the fuselage. However, this was so much fun to make that losing a blade is acceptable collateral damage.
