Question about Omega Leaders skill

By Zazaa, in X-Wing

I would like to know that using Protectorates with Fearlessness and Concord Dawn Protector tittle, is adding hit or evade for defence and attack concidered as modifying attack or defence?

And how about Range 1 Fenn Rau's skill adding one dice to the roll?

I was playing today against Palp Aces variation and it was my first time against Omega Leader so I have not been in this situation before and I believed what my opponent said about those being modificiation for attack and defence..

Thanks for the help!!! :)

Adding a result is a modification, so the title and fearlessness don't work against OL. Fenn's ability adds a die to the pool you roll, which is not a modification, so it still works.

Okay! Thanks for the rapid response!

...So case closed! :)

People... we do have a RULES FORUM ! <_<

Page 12 of the current FAQ also covers this, and any other OL interaction.

Everyone I played against last night (3 matches) was confused about how OL works, which surprised me, as I've at least been running the ship almost constantly since its release (and figured enough people complained about the ability).

... Most of my current competitive list building starts with OL, then a Palp Shuttle... because I'm a bad person.

Then add Jax and Wampa and let the hate flow through you.

afaik the FAQ covers any odd combination with OL.

Only thing you can do if he has you TL is roll additional dice or make him roll less dice or cancel dice.

Adding a result is not rolling an additional die. For some reason i have to fight that with a lot of people. Did you actually ROLL that die? No? Then you ADDED it :P

What's worse is folks that don't quite understand how Evade tokens work :/

Old timers can get cornfused about evade tokens because they used to work very differently. Old habits are hard to break. The evade token simply adding an extra die result was a pretty drastic reinterpretation of a core rule that happened sometime around wave 4 or 5 IIRC.

Oh, I wasn't blaming anyone. It's just the above is the exact reason it can be a difficult discussion.

Just like the Biggs nerf will confuse people for awhile (and it's those **** old-timers that like to fly the mustachioed pilot).

Our local TO has a standing answer to OL questions: "NO... Maybe with Palp. Otherwise, NO."

How did they work previously?

Previously, they just cancelled damage.

It was later decided that they do this by adding an Evade result to your roll.

And it's quite fast at responding as well, even for the in-game questions that arise.

If I am remembering correctly Fenn adds a blank, correct? This blank could not be changed to something else as that would be modifying the dice, unless I'm missing something.....

You're thinking of Finn, the rebel-only crew in Heroes of the Resistance. The original question is about Fenn Rau, Scum pilot in the Protectorate Starfighter expansion.

Drive-by citation for what does and doesn't count as dice modification: Rules Reference p13, "Modifying Dice".

Gotcha, thanks for the clarification.

I could be wrong here, but the easiest way I remember it is adding/changing a result is a modification, adding a die to roll is not a modification. Things like Advanced Targeting Computer, tokens and Nora, versus Fenn's ability or being at range 1.

Adding a dice AFTER the roll is modification of the results. Adding a dice before the roll is not.

No I think I would of heard about a magical place like that.
