If you were able to get the grand prize and design a card for Armada, what would it be?
What card would you design?
Ordinance: Long Range Torpedoes
*Modification*
When attacking a ship, exhaust this card to fire black dice at medium range.
Points: I have no idea, but I am thinking high

Are you going to call that ship Insidious?

Not that High...
Insidious is 3 Points.
Granted, Insidious has the drawback of having to fire at Rear Zones to use it, but it takes the Title Slot, so you can still equip an ordnance card while Doing so...
And if its Exhaust, its only a single shot per turn...
So yeah, I don't feel too much on it.
... One of my favourite responses I had from my Gaming Group when this was come up last time was this (and no, this is not mine):
"I don't have a name for it, but heres the concept:
While attacking an Enemy Squadron, discard this card to resolve the attack using your battery armament, instead of your anti-squadron armament.
I call it, "**** you, Jan."
I'd give something that would add accuracies to AA batteries. Double black AA are no longer super countered by a scatter token.
But then, I say it out loud and I find my suggestion pretty boring.
Back to the drawing board.
Rapid-fire Laser Clusters.
6 points.
While attacking a squadron at close range, (crits) adds one point of damage to the result.
Edit: Almost the same thing as what Sybreed would do, it seems - nearly-ninja'd

that would make point defense reroute completely worthless though. It needs to be around 7-8 points IMO!
Last year in a similar thread I said that I wanted an upgrade that allows Bomber dice to be re-rolled.
I would create a cheap generic fleet commander card for both factions. That way you always have a commander to fall back to in campaign play.
Edited by Brikhause"You may discard a die in your attack pool to change another die to any other color." I'd say this is a turbolaser upgrade, and could cost around 6 points.
So you could take a 4 red dice shot and turn it into two long range black dice if you so chose. Or toss a red to get a blue if you're chasing an accuracy, or a blue crit at long range.
Huh, nobody has said Thrawn.
Anyway, mine would be a defensive retrofit.
"When defending, discard this card to cancel all dice with a crit result."
Points would scale. Something like 3/5/7 for small/medium/large base ships.
Huh, nobody has said Thrawn.
Another one that I would not want to touch with a 10' pole...
I am not going to be responsible for the level of vitriol that one will generate when it hits, one way or another...

You're totally right. I've changed it on KDY for that reason. I also did a defensive-retrofit version of Point-Defense Reroute for one more point than PDR

I wasn't sure how much taking up an ordinance slot would lower the price. It is a very competitive slot. However, you still have room for ordinance expert with it, so glads and shrimps can throw 3 black at medium with rerolls.
This thread made me realize just how bad point defense reroute is. Well, for 5 points it's pretty bad.
I would make an Obi Wan Kenobi officer card that you could discard to gain the effects of any other officer card, of either faction, for the duration of that turn.
That would be some nifty force Ghost powers!

Because half the point of Black Dice isn't just the Damage.
Its the APT. The ACM. The Critical Effect.
By putting it in the Ordnance Slot, you are saying "This is going to be Cool for Overall Damage.... But I'm going to have to have some other die colour mixed in there, because if I don't, its always going to be Braced, and I'm never getting a Critical Effect out of it..."
The Critical Cards themselves are priced for use at Short Range. That's them...
If you are gifting a way for a Ship to make use of those Upgrades at range, then there needs to be a price penalty paid somewhere, to make up for the wider engagement envelope.
I am pretty sure this is why Sato is priced where he is... And why Insidious has the penalty of being Rear-Zone only....
Edited by DrasnightaI had some ideas in the past. I forgot them.
Maybe some kind of counter card. "When your opponent exhausts a card, exhaust this card to ready their card. Their card's effect is cancelled, and that card cannot be exhausted for the remainder of the activation."

I can see fleet with 3 Scout MC30's loving this upgrade.
