Yep. The only requirement to participate at worlds is you pay for your ticket and are lucky enough to actually get a ticket before they sell out.

If you've won a national championship you get free entry, otherwise it's just like $60 or something. Plus you have to travel there.

You seem very knowledgeable so id like to ask you another question. How would I map out tournaments (store,regional,national) and see where and when they will be if any (near me) ??
Regionals:
Nationals is at Origins and the North American Championship is at Gen Con.
Since they're doing a shortened tournament season this time around, there aren't any store championships.

I'm interested to see how they do nations and north american championship with the new layout as origins and gencon will now be after worlds.
they just award the flight to the winner the year after?

I don't think that's been shown yet.
If it's like they do with X-Wing, they'll have an article on the site with the champion talking about why they wanted to design said card.
