Limit to Officer's Order Ability?

By SolkaTruesilver, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Yesterday. While Playing "Under Siege", my players moaned when i used two different officers to order Darth Vader around and make him cross the entire map with a whooping 16-move turn.

Was this move legal..?

Yes. (In the Campaign) Order lets Vader perform a move (if he's within 2 spaces), and movement points received out of your activation must be spent immediately (or lost). Each special action can be used only once per activation. You had two activations, no problem giving one Order in each of them.

With Inspiring Leadership and Field Officer / Field General an Imperial Officer could even give two Orders per activation because they are different special actions (two sources for the Order special action).

And Imperial Officer gives full movement pts to Imperial figures in Campaign unlike in Skirmish where its capped at 2.

What do you mean when you say "16-move turn"?

As a1bert said, if an Officer uses Order to get another figure to move, that figure has to move right then or the the movement points are lost.

So if by "turn" you meant that Vader got a total of 16 movement points throughout one round ... 4 movements points from each Officer during their respective activations that were spent by Vader right away, and then 8 movement points during Vader's activation... yes, that's fine.

If by "turn" you meant that the Officers gave Vader movement points that he banked until his activation... no, that's wrong.

I think you're talking about a whole round, but I wasn't sure what you meant by "turn."

In fact, they are surprisingly different. In skirmish Order gives 2 movement points to the target figure. In campaign the target figure performs a move.

I concur that i meant a Round, not a Turn.

Officer Activates, moves Vader 4

Officer Activates, moves Vader 4

Vader Activates, moves 8

Then you're good, provided there wasn't any jankery with difficult terrain or Vader walking through spaces occupied by Rebel figures!

Not only is it a valid play, but it's the only way to get Vader to do anything useful in Under Siege :D

Wow, I play skirmish so much I didn't notice that the officers are different in campaign. Apparently, we've been playing them wrong.

Thats what I told my players.. but then got accused of munchkinism.

The scenario wasnt fair tho. I won because they had 3 bad die roll in a row (had they won a single one of them, they would have won). But they were just 3 heroes without the Heroic cards.

It was a one-off to get the taste of the game. They loved it. They should have won, because they played **** good.

But i keep telling them the Flash Vader move was legit ;)

Anyway. First time i ever played a real campaign mission. Everybody had fun.

Also note that if the rebels last 6 rounds, you can say they achieved partial victory.

Wow, they won with only 3 heroes and no Heroic rewards? They must have played well...

Why weren't you using the Heroic cards?

They didnt won. But they were **** close.

They didnt had it because... I forgot to give it to them. It was a 1-off, i didnt thought it was that important at the time. Clearly i was wrong.

If it had been a campaign, i would have given it to them or asked to take a 4th character.

Still could've had a huge impact on the game. Maybe an action was wasted doing unnecessary healing or combat in self defense.

Well, that, plus the entire activation they missed out on each turn. Dang, they really did do well coming so close to winning with such bad odds.

I concur that i meant a Round, not a Turn.

I just wanted to let you know that I will now frequently be using the word jankery.
