Launching mySWRPG.com

By Nytwyng, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

I've been making noises about it around here for a month or two, but it's finally off the ground:

Gsc30ym.png

I'm still in the process of posting material that I have, and will most definitely be tinkering some more with formatting, but I wanted to get the site live.

The plan is for it to be a cooperative community where we can all share materials for the Star Wars RPG, be it FFG, WotC, and/or WEG.

Feel free to stop by, check it out, and if you're so inclined, contact me to be a contributor.

That's http://myswrpg.com

I figure it might be nice to also include updates when new information is added.

In addition to the planets recently posted to "Planets, planets, and more planets," today saw information posted for:

Crimson Jack - A space pirate introduced in the original Marvel series.

Crimson Jack's battlecruiser - A captured Imperial cruiser converted for use by Crimson Jack.

Serenno - Count Dooku's homeworld

Outstanding job over there, Nytwyng! Really enjoy what you're sharing!

Love the Dreadstar shout-out with Cathedral. Seriously old-skool comic love there. :D

Absolutely!

I'm sure that it doesn't show that I was up late and watched repeats of "Ghosts of Geonosis" this week....

Geonosis

Imperial Jumptroopers

Dusting this off a bit. There have been some updates made here and there since I last posted any. And, I've got a work in progress of updating the earlier planet pages now that I've settled into a good template.

The big news is that I'm trying to get into a regular posting schedule (and, as soon as I say that, I'm going to hope that the holidays don't totally mess that up). The plan going forward is this:

Mondays - an NPC

Wednesdays - gear, ship, other custom content

Fridays - planet

I'm tossing around the notion of occasional gazeteers for some of the planet pages (especially the custom planets).

Under this new schedule, last week saw the posting of Nym , the Scurgg H-6 prototype bomber , and Lok . This week will see Quinlan Vos, a custom Force power (Psychometry), and Bakura.

Check it out and let me know what you think.

I have. That would fall under the (intentionally) broad “custom content” banner. 😁

Looks pretty good at a glance, will definitely have closer look when I have the time.

But... why does the Scurrg have 6 wingtip guns when the picture used (and pretty much every other picture I can find) depicts it with 4? I've seen what looks like fan art with an additional 2 guns up front, but that seems like an exception. Granted I haven't played the game where it appears, so there might something retractable or an upgrade or something else that isn't obvious. I mean, wookieepedia and Saga edition seems to agree with you, but visual evidence seems not to. Also, if it's fitted with two bomb chutes, why aren't they treated as a single Linked 1 weapon? Or is the idea that the pilot and gunnery droid drop a bomb each? Because I got the impression that the droid brain was for the turret only?

Haven't compared it to the other stuff you've statted yet, but it could use some polish.

As a veteran of the game it appears in, I can confirm it does fire 6 bolts, two sets of 3 in a triangle formation. You can see in the picture the last pair of cannons is barely a bubble on the hull right next to the middle cannons.

As for the two proton bomb launchers, it's more to represent the fact that the ship came with two bomb chutes rather than it being a twin launcher. This is definitely more balanced than Nym's actual bomber, as the infinite energy bomblets and plasma scourge could be abused in some fashion.

Isn't it better to just treat it as a single weapon then?

I watched some gameplay footage and using the TIE bomber's proton bomb chute to represent it seems vastly overpowered. I'd probably use something like the missile pack with unguided concussion rockets from Dangerous Covenants but with reduced range and without slow firing.

Having it use Linked 1 increases its overall damage potential in a single attack, which is not what it was designed for. It essentially increases the ammo capacity and has a backup bomb chute should one fail. Using a missile kinda defeats the purpose as a bomber, and takes away from its identity. The A-Wing was an interceptor but could be outfitted to have concussion missiles.

My only gripe about how it's statted is its price and rarity. It's a rare design, and is pretty cheap for all the bells and whistles. I'd probably honestly put it closer to 200k and at least make it Restricted, as it is a known bomber prototype, and would be illegal for anyone to possess that ship if they realize what it is.

Definitely like Psychometry, however, there is no link to the Control: Sight upgrade, therefore no way to get to Mastery.

For the Scurgg, the main guns seen a bit much to me. Personally, I'd do Twin-linked Triple Blasters (treat as Medium Laser Cannons, Linked 1). If they fire in groups of 3 each as GameboyAK says, I can't see them having linked 5, but 🤷‍♂️ .

As always, the planets rock.

You’re not the first to catch that. I noticed it came out that way when it went live after going out of town for work. The link is there in OggDude’s, I swear. 🤣 For some reason, my laptop doesn’t like printing trees from the program, so fixing it will have to wait til I can get back home to my desktop.

The Scurgg is a little crazy. All of the available information out there is extrapolated from Nym’s modified version, making it difficult to determine what’s “factory” and what’s modded. The Linked 5 comes from all descriptions of the weapons load out saying there are 6 laser cannons, 1 automated twin laser cannon turret, and 2 proton bomb launchers. Seemed to make more sense for those 6 to be the wingtip guns, and to treat them like an X-wing’s. Although I am trying to remember if I had a reason for doing the proton bomb launchers separately than Linked 1. (I’ve slept since then. 🤣 )

All I'm gonna say if the TIE Defender, a limited run Imperial Starfighter, can have Linked 3 Medium Laser Cannons with roughly the same stats, I think a bomber focused heavy starfighter with an even more limited run can get away with Linked 5 (though it would take an INSANE amount of advantage to get to use every single one of those).

It most definitely can. The only other ship with the "triple laser cannons/triple blaster cannons" (can't remember the specifics) is the Balbellub (yeah, I know I misspelled it...I hate that name, lol) and it was stated with linked 5.

I was just expressing an opinion. Personally, I think linked 5 is just a touch impractical. Most characters will get maybe 3 to link. In ours, or fighters have linked 3 and I don't recall a single battle in over a year that all 4 hit, or got activated. Many go for a critical first and linked second, but YMMV.

But, no, The linked 5 is totally an option, and also supported in current in game stats.

You're not wrong about it being impractical.

However, in my games at least, there have been moments when my players net a single success... and 7 or 8 advantage, maybe a triumph mixed in there. So while impractical, I think it would be epic the once or twice it does occur, and that bomber suddenly annihilates a gunboat or patrol ship with just its laser cannons. I think that's why the appeal of the Linked 5 more so than reducing it to triple blasters, for those once in a blue moon moments that the table as a whole will talk about for years.
