Tutorial mission, some questions

By MarshalLaw, in Imperial Assault Rules Questions

Hi there, I've had this game for a while now, but have only just gotten round to actually playing - I've been painting the minis first!

After a playthrough of the tutorial, I have a few questions.

1) When a character is stunned, can they roll defence dice if attacked?

2) Are condition such as stun cumulative? ie 2 stun markers = both actions to remove?

3)If a hero has been activated, and used both of its actions, can it still perfom an interrupt action outside of its own activation?

Hope someone can help. I'm really enjoying playing so far.

1) Yes, stunned only prevents attacking and voluntarily exiting your space (see the condition card).

2) Each condition can only be applied once. (See Conditions from the Rules Reference Guide.)

3) Depends on the ability and what triggers the ability. A specific question will produce a specific answer. Normally the word "interrupt" implies that the ability is performed regardless of which figure is currently activating (or not - during the end of round step of the status phase).

(For example, an Attack action allows to perform an attack. But you can get to perform an attack from other abilities that do not require to spend an action.)

Thanks for the clarification.

What I was trying to get across in point 3, is, say for example Jyn Odan has moved and attacked. In the Imperial player's phase, could she use her Quick Draw ability? If so, does this count as an action when she is next activated?

Does this make sense? am I over thinking this?

Just to emphasize: There is no imperial player's phase, there are alternating activations. Both sides activate one group at a time, starting with rebels. If a side does not have a group to activate, the turn returns to the other side.

Quick Draw does not check whether Jyn's activation token is ready or exhausted, Quick Draw can be used at the start of a hostile figure's activation (before the figure performs any ability or action) once per round (twice if Jyn has two activation tokens), provided Jyn can suffer 2 strain without going over her endurance value. Quick Draw does not take an action, it allows Jyn to 'interrupt' to perform an attack. (Performing an attack is not an action by itself, although the Attack action lets you perform an attack.)

Note that not all abilities that interrupt use the word interrupt.

Thanks again for the info. I meant activation, but phase is reasonably similar., apologies for the confusion. You know how some times you know in your head what you want to say, but can't quite get the words out properly !
