Given that Concord Dawn Protector adds an evade result, and adding, changing and rerolling dice results occurs during the 'Modify Defense Dice' step, that added evade result would be considered a die, correct? That being the case, it would not help against Autoblaster, correct?

Correct.

Adding results is supposed to involve physically picking up a spare die, setting it to the relevant face, and placing it in the pool of rolled results, wherein it is treated the same way as any other rolled die (i.e. it can be further modified by rerolling or changing, unless an effect like Accuracy Corrector stops that happening).
