Dunwich Horror Questions

By karpluker, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

So I got DH for christmas and I just have a few questions after losing to the game AGAIN.

Okay, if you close the gate with the symbol that is on the DH does he go back into the cup?

Does the DH actually ever move or just stay on the hill?

If flying monsters spawn in Dun and then move to the sky do they immediately count against the monster limit? The way we played it was that they did and since our monster limir was maxed the monsters went STRAIGHT into the outskirts rather than the sky. Seemed weird...

A general question: if 2 investigators are on one spot and there are monsters on that spot, can either of them fight them or does it have to go in order. If the first player is one of them does he first have to decide to either fight or evade and THEN the next person gets to fight or evade, or can you just have the second person fight them out of order?

Thanks! I had lots more questions, but I forget them now.

In theory, but there are no gates with the moon symbol.

Just stays on the hill, with a 50/50 chance of adding to the doom track when he would move.

I haven't read a ruling on this, but I think you did it right.

You don't get to pick the order. Each player must, in turn, deal with the monsters as you described.

You got gates with the Crescent symbol gran_risa.gif ? Man, where are mine? I bet those come in KH gui%C3%B1o.gif !

Normally it won't move, if the Crescent comes up, you roll according the text. You could possible swap places with it via Mi-Go Brain Case, Lure Monster, etc.

Correct, once they would move to the Sky, they come under monster limit, so if Arkham is at limit, Outskirts.

Turn order as normal.

Also: Can the deputy move into Dun as if it is Arkham?

Yep.

Deputy Wagon can go to any town.

Also, spawn monsters can never be returned to the cup by closing a gate, even if the DH had a symbol other than crescent.

Just one other question that I told the guys I would clarify: when you come through a gate, you do not have to fight or evade the monsters on that location THAT turn do you? Just on the next turn, right?

What about a mythos card such as Feds Raid Arkham!, where all monsters in the streets are returned to the cup? In that case, would spawn monsters return to the cup or Ancien One sheet?

Right. AH rulebook p. 18 under Monsters Guarding Gates.

Spawns are unaffected by all "return to cup" stuff (Feds, Time Bomb, etc.).
