I've been waiting for FFG to spoil the lowest-PS generic U-Wing so I could really flesh this out.
Seems as though Rebels got a balanced version of the Palp Shuttle for cheaper.
Blue Squadron Pathfinder (23)
- Jyn Erso (2)
- Jan Ors (2)
- Pivot Wing (0)
----- Total 27 points -----
With this build, a friendly ship within range 2 of Pathfinder gets up to three focus tokens, one of which can be dropped for an evade. Realistically, with the caveat that you have a number of enemy ships in the U-Wing arc, you're looking at two tokens max, a focus and an evade. Certainly explains why it's cheaper than a Palp Shuttle. But, that's why we have the title - to ensure you always have something in your arc.
Now we throw an Ace in there:
Poe Dameron (31)
- Veteran Instincts (1)
- BB-8 (2) or R5-P9 (3)
- Autothrusters (2)
- Black One (1)
----- Total 37-38 points ------
And another:
Wes Janson (29)
- Veteran Instincts (1)
- R3-A2 (2)
- Integrated Astromech
----- Total 32 points -----
That's 96 or 97 points. Which means if Wes isn't you thing, have up to 34 points for another Ace. I'm big on PS so I went with Wes. (someone check my math...)
Side note: Jyn Erso and R5-P9 is a great combo - just feed an extra focus token to that ship and it can regen without having to focus itself. Poe will ALWAYS be able to regenerate if you keep him within range 2 of the U-Wing.
What else? Is there a better way to build this Rebel Palp Shuttle? Rebels are hurting for "aces" with respectable PS and the ability to hang with the big dogs.
Also, this U-Wing/Aces build needs a name. Jyn/Jan Aces isn't fun to say. I'll rely on you guys to come up with something witty. Pathfinder Aces?
