It depends on the card. With Daredevil, it is assigned after the first sentence. The timing of it means that any effects that trigger “after you execute a maneuver” would trigger before the stress is assigned. For Lightning Reflexes, it is after the “Check Pilot Stress” step (which is during the maneuver).

So....this is interesting....
If the stress is assigned after any "execute a maneuver" then kanan doesnt work on daredevil or dampeners. However, he works ... on lightning reflexes?
