How many tiles to introduce a new location?

By Lipm, in Mansions of Madness

The game has only been out a couple of months, and the next expansion has only recently been announced, which probably makes it a bit early to discuss future expansions. However, when I saw that expansion will come with 6 double-sided tiles, all of which seem to only be adding more room variation (definitely not a bad thing for the first expansion) I wondered whether this model would make it difficult to introduce new locations to the game.

Call of Wild added 11 tiles to the game to introduce an explorable outdoor space: is it possible to do the same with 6 tiles? For example, could we possibly see a Dreamlands expansion down the road, with gates and other world tiles, or does the 6-tiles per box limit the possibilities here?

What are everyone's thoughts, and what kind of locations or rooms would you like to see in the game's future?

Likely the number of tiles might be different in each expansion. Also, FFG seems to release alternating big/small boxes every six months for many games, its likely towards August or September we will see a larger box with more tiles and figures than this one.

Yes, I concur with this vision. I think this line will be constantly expanded, with expansions that will cover quite an interesting array of options: DLC only, medium sized box with new investigators and scenarios, and bigger boxes with proper settings. I think that what we'll see depends a lot on how the community will answer to the variety of offered products

I hadn't considered that this was the "small box" expansion, but as it is the first release after the core set, that makes sense.

I also realise now that the price point is the same as Imperial Assault's, so will probably follow a similar model. Though hopefully more then just the $59.95 "large box" expansions will introduce new settings or twists on room types.
