General Merrick .. different colour flight suit and markings on helmet. Could he be piloting a Y-Wing or U-Wing here? I don't think it's a U-Wing as (from memory) the preview showed a slightly different flight yolk in the U.

Regardless, I think we'll see Gen. Merrick in our game. Being a General I'd expect a reasonably high PS. Then again, I wouldn't expect to see a General piloting in a dog fight. Maybe it's giant pen he's pushing?

Garven Dreis was also Red leader, and he's only PS 6. Maybe Merrick will end up being a 7 at least.

He has black and white flightsuit so, I think, he flies famous black&white X-wing.

Oohhhhh that'd be siiiick.

Black and white X-Wings belong to the partisans I think.

I doubt they'd have the star-bird on their helmets.

Jesus, are Rebel pilots the 70s cops of Star Wars?

The ammount of moustaches pleases me SO MUCH!

Love how they're embracing that 70s feel for continuity's sake. Those pilots could be extras from A New Hope. Brilliant.

For all you beardless women, you can still grow a beard in time for Rogue One.

Whaaaaaaaattt???

To be in line with Star Wars fashion and no more go beardless in general!

Beastie Boys' Sabotage would have made more sense here than in Star Trek...

General Merrick is hopefully Merrick Simms, who was "Blue Leader" (Legends) at both the Battle of Yavin and the Battle of Endor

Female X-Wing Pilot is almost ceratinly supposed to be Evaan Verlaine, as it matches the cross-promotional efforts of LFL under Disney (and the helmet is basically a match), though it's weird then that her card would just be X-Wing Pilot and not "Verlaine", as it defeats the whole cross-promotional purpose.

The portly X-Wing pilot is probably Jek Porkins, as he is both a fan favorite and arguably the most memorable X-Wing pilot of ANH to the general audience

I wonder what the rough time-gap is between the operation that steals the plans in Rogue One and the Battle of Yavin in ANH? It can't be that long. Assume maybe a few days at most from the Tantive IV getting the plans to being captured by Vader and the Devastator. The Droids probably spend less than a week on Tatooine before running into Luke and then they meet Obi-Wan the next day. Then it's about a day presumably until they hit Mos Eisely and find Han. Presumably then it's less than a day from visiting the Death Star, grabbing Leia, and high-tailing it to Yavin IV. Assume a day or so at most before the Battle of Yavin, since the Rebels felt they didn't have time to evacuate but only to stage a desperate last stand when the Death Star arrived.

So, it's probably only about a week's time from the main engagement of Rogue One to the Battle of Yavin? It' seems unlikely that this would be enough time for Biggs to decide to cut his hair and re-adorn his helmet, so "Fabio" is probably not Biggs (but maybe he gives his helmet to Biggs).

I suppose it could be a much longer span of time, though, since I guess we don't know how long the droids are lost on Tatooine and aboard the Sandcrawler before they roll into the Lars Moisture Farmstead. But with the sandtroopers hot on their heels the entire time, it seems unlikely that the droids were putzing around the desert for much longer than a week. Maybe these X-Wing pilots are involved in some sort of skirmish well before the operation that actually extracts the plans? Maybe the plans are stolen but then take weeks to reach Leia? So I suppose it's possible that it's a longer stretch of time.

Well, there's Luke, then Biggs, then Wedge, then the fat guy who exploded.

Nah, "the fat guy who exploded" is on the same recognizability tier as Wedge and Biggs for the vast majority of folks who have seen Star Wars. It seems like sacred gospel to all of us, but bear in mind that the vast majority of people who have watched Star Wars couldn't name a single Imperial character's name other than Vader. Tarkin, Motti, Needa, Piett, Ozzel, Veers, and the rest may all seem second-nature to us, but as popular as Star Wars geekdom is, we're still a minority of the people who watch Star Wars movies.

Pretty sure the guy on the far left in the original post is an older Lord Flashheart?

not sure if Merrick flies the Partisan X Wing as from the Celebration footage the thrusters doesn't look like the same Partisan colours

interestingly one of them is also at the meeting

what about this guy? same uniform, different helmet

Wedge is clearly named, as is Biggs - who actually gets screen time out of an x-wing.

I'm not really disagreeing with you though. As a young fan of SW, and ANH being the best, I do remember Biggs and Wedge on the trench run.

I remember Porkins mainly for being a bit useless :P

Nice one! Images 1 and 3 are clearly X-Wings.

So we have most of the 'Rogues' from Rogue one as crew in the U-Wing already.

I think it is safe to expect a Partisan X-Wing repaint (possibly in a Rogue one pack with Y-Wing??) Pilots: General Merrick and the sassy looking female pilot (hopefully named).

There'll be some grumblings about having to buy yet another X-Wing repaint no doubt.

Do you think we'll see new Biggs, Porkins, etc cards like Poe?

It certainly does:

Don't believe me..... Think back to the first time you heard the score for star wars play, think about it.

For me the opening music of star wars has always made my hair stand on end in a way no other type of music can.

Side note: that song is great.

I just meant because the video for Sabotage has all those mustaches...

coincidently, the X Wing Rogue One Mission for Battlefront also gave the callsigns as Blues - Blue Leader, Blue Five etc so you could be on to something here

The Generic U-Wing is also Blue Squadron Pathfinder.

I'm watching season 1 of the Clone Wars right now and Ahsoka is flying as Blue Leader.
