The Endless Vigil for Endless Vigil is Finished

By Blackbird888, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

I think Disney is just making sure things get no worse than PG-13  Of course an R-rated Star Wars film could be cool, but feels quite unnecessary.

I agree... like all the shagging and nudity in Westworld... we get it, they're clones/replicants/objects and there's definitely more female nudity than male. I'm not gay BTW just me and my wife spotted it by Ep3 - I'm all for equality for the heterosexual ladies watching Westworld :D *facepalm* I just wanna see Ed Harris's (The Man in Black) character get to the end of his story arc :)

Ok now I see it but again my point stands that they are not dealing exclusively in canon only point in case the Lightwhip(A legends only) weapon shows up in the same book and Lightfoils show up in the same section even. I think Lucasfilm is suggesting what to put in point in case the Kuyzo in Age of Rebellion but I think we are overestimating Disney's participation. In my opinion Disney is taking a cut of the profits and suing people who get in the way of business sure. But as for creative control that would be Pablo and the Story group.

I think it's more that Legends things that have been positively excised from canon probably won't be seen in the books any more*. Lucasfilm reps have said that, per Lucas and going forward, Sith-made synthetic kyber crystals aren't what makes lightsabers red, and the Sith don't use synthetic crystals; they use crystals obtained by other means. So no synthetic lightsaber crystals.

*OTOH, Lucasfilm reps have also said that living things that are anti-Force aren't a thing, because the Force includes all living things by definition, hence life cannot be anti-Force. But ysalmir are in the core F&D book, so... there are no absolutes, I guess.

As far as Saber crystals go I'd go for both in my campaign for light and dark siders...that makes pg 145 of The Jedi Path superfluous... those books make great in game resources. We've been quoting The Bounty Hunter Code until ND comes out - mainly what the IPKC allows you to do within Imperial Law

I got my copy of Endless Vigil yesterday! I almost didn't, but a woman carrying a box came through the door of my FLGS right as I was about to leave. I figured I'd stick around in case the book was in there—and, lo and behold, it was!

Endless Vigil is still not on Amazon in the US, since I have free shipping there I refuse to buy it anywhere else.

Sometimes Prime is nice, times like these not so nice. *sigh*

As of November 16th, it's still not on Amazon! No other sourcebook has taken this long after release to reach Amazon :( .

Which stinks.

Still waiting . . .

Does anyone have any idea if/when this book will be put up on Amazon? I've Facebooked and Tweeted to FFG and still, no response. I rely on my Amazon Prime b/c I'm overseas on military orders and everywhere else (coolstuffinc, etc) wants to charge $15+ to ship.

I've also been waiting on Amazon. Oddly enough, Amazon France has it. When will Amazon have it in the U.S. and what is taking so darn long?

I'm next to certain that pantorans were meant to only have 100 xp. They're basically Twi'leks, but with cold resist instead of hot resist, and a different selection of skills.

So why on earth would they get 10 more xp?

For any who don't listen to the Order 66 podcast, the developers said Pantoran's get 10 extra xp because the below average willpower is a downside for a high presence species.

Um...OK... I don't get that, considering all characteristics are typically considered to be equal, but whatever.

Characteristics aren't all equal for every build. Willpower (through discipline) is the defense against the majority of social skills. So a character with 1 willpower will be at a major disadvantage when in social contests. And in a species that specializes in social contests, a 1 in willpower is a downside.

Not to mention that Willpower sets your starting Strain Threshold, when strain is often inflicted as part of social encounters (sometimes used as a full replacement for wounds). And low Willpower means worse Coercion checks, which hampers your ability to switch from the carrot to the stick.

I'm not necessarily sure that that adds up to 10 XP, but I can see the logic behind it.

Yes, but the point remains that the Pantorans don't have to take a "social build" any more than Gungans. However, Pantorans have the XP to build for anything else (the typical 4/3/2/2/2/2 arranged as desired) and still have that 3 Presence (so 4/3/2/2/2 arranged as desired and Presence 3). It's certainly not a game-breaking boost, but giving them just 100 XP to start wouldn't be a game-breaking loss either and would put them along the norms we've seen for most species. As is, they are mechanically "better" than the norm if only by a bit.

I just finished the Order 66 Podcast, and it's interesting. It's confirmed that the two new lightsaber crystals are indeed one HP.

Yet again FFG goes with, "What's in print is correct" even when it doesn't follow.

Well, it does follow. Remember, Keeping the Peace has a crystal which requires four HP. Thus, there is a precedence. So, having a couple that only require one isn't that much of a stretch. I'm pretty sure we'll see other such variations in coming books too. There is no hard rule that says all lightsaber crystals have to take up two HPs. That's just what most of them so far require.

What about the missing Control upgrade in the Tree regarding regaining strain on Droids?

What about the missing Control upgrade in the Tree regarding regaining strain on Droids?

That was clarified as being an upgrade tested in play testing. But they could not arrange the tree in a satisfactory way to accommodate it and was therefore scrapped, unfortunately in the first print run the description was not removed. In all subsequent print runs that additional upgrade description will be absent.

So I'm still waiting on my copy, but they talked about the light whip having only one Hard Point. Would it make sense for those 2 crystals to be able to be installed in the Lightwhip hilt? Or is there no obvious way to do that? does the Lightwhip Hilt even have stats, or is it just a weapon which can't have the crystal removed?

In regards to the lightwhip, the descriptive text flat out says that it can't make use of lightsaber crystal attachments. So whether a 'saber crystal costs 1 hard point or not, the lightwhip specifically can't use it.

Very excited to pick this up when I can. The Order 66 podcast gave me inspiration to maybe play a Racer that's got all these sponsors and the like. Might make it a Pantoran too.

Speaking of which, does anybody happen to have a clear image of the Pantoran on the Species page? I saw him/her briefly in a youtube review.

. . . my Vigil is nearly over.

Apologies for the thread necromancy but it has taken me this long to actually find a copy in the UK. Just two more days for the Royal Mail to lose it for me and extend the vigil . . .

Still not on Amazon.com, but No Disintegrations is. Seems rather odd.

I ended up biting the bullet and ordering from Mini Market, but it annoyed me to do so. Not that I have anything against mini market, I don't, but I'd have preferred the ease of amazon.

I can't find No Disintegrations on Amazon... do you have a link?
