The Endless Vigil for Endless Vigil is Finished

I forgot he was divorced before the prequels!

As one version of the story goes, the divorce in '83 (during post-production of RotJ) is a major factor in no additional movies being made for so long. It was a bitter divorce, and should a new movie enter production in short order, Marcia would have been entitled to a cut as part of the community property.

Spielberg also had a bitter divorce at the time. The result: Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (with people having their hearts torn out of their chests, literally).

I'm sure it had great therapeutic effect, though.

He also married what's-her-name. The woman who co-starred in that same movie.

Kate Capshaw ... now Kate Cashaw Spielberg.

So finally got my copy of the book.

Pretty interesting over all, with the GM chapter offering up some interesting idea. It was interesting to note that a sidebar in the Lightsaber hilt crafting section flat out said that synthetic kyber crystals were not a thing, but I would guess that was done to avoid players trying to "craft" the more rare/powerful crystals (such as Krayt Dragon Pearl or Etaan) instead of questing for them. Personally, I'm sticking with synthetic crystals being a thing (and generally how the Sith acquire their kyber crystals), with them having the same stats as an Ilum crystal.

My character is actually going to be crafting your Solari crystal, Dono. I loved it in your Ways of the Force pdf.

The difference being that my GM and I agreed to a system of using advantage and triumph to determine the mods.

The base is 6 dmg, crit 3, breach 1, and reduces strain by 1 to minimum of one when using parry or reflect.

The dice pool will be a hard check with two upgrade. First due to having the strain reduction of parry and reflect without being paragon. Second due to using Lore and the Sith-ish nature of the knowledge required to make a synth crystal. I think he's gonna throw two set backs in there for some reason but I'm hoping two ranks in researcher will get rid of them.

Advantage spending will go like so:

1 Advantage used for basic mods: + dmg, - crit, defensive, deflective

2 Advantage used for talent mods: parry, reflect, ect

3 Advantage or Triumph used to modify the base saber: + damage, - crit rating, ect.

I think this can make just as interesting for the party as questing for a crystal, just different.

Yeah, I find synthetic lightsaber crystals thematic, so I will also just be ignoring that. (Once I receive my copy, I mean.) Though, not well-versed in the EU, my interpretation of them has always been "mundane crystal made like a synthetic gemstone, then imbued with the Force." I have no idea how canonical that interpretation is, but it's the one I like and use.

And I agree with Austin; learning how to make them could be as much of a quest as finding one. After all, how else are you going to know what the crystal should be like?

Thats just it really; every known crystal site is being observed by the Sith, palpatine likely had a fair amount of knowledge on where the Jedi set up shop and hence it only makes sense that the few survives go on a journey of the self. WHAT is actually important to them? The kyber crystals themselves? What is their duty in this empire of evil? Pass on tradictions? Raise an army? Attempt to assassinate the Sith now that they have revealed themselves? It's actually the perfect time to have the Jedi to explore new boundaries and throw away the lore that has been trodden into oblivion.

Marcia would have been entitled to a cut as part of the community property.

Heh, I wish!

I had quite the shock when I started playing Fallout 4, and noticed that the most popular topic was 'HOW DO I KILL MARCIA?'

:(

I hate my name anyway.

Apparently EV is now on Ebay UK, on a UK RPG supplier page.. so any of us who pre-ordered should be getting their copy.

Hopefully......

Endless Vigil is still not on Amazon in the US, since I have free shipping there I refuse to buy it anywhere else.

Not all of them, at least not according to Nexus of Power . Ossus is still available, if you can find a path through the Chron Drift. There's also the Cularin Asteroid field. Both of these are sources of Adegan Crystals (such as Mephite and Pontite) Or, you could go to Tatooine and kill yourself a Krayt Dragon for a Krayt Dragon Pearl. The only planets I know for certain which are garrisoned by the Empire are Phemis (rubat), Mygeeto (another source of Adegan Crystals), and Ilum.

My personal, completely unsubstantiated theory? That's also why we got the Special Editions. Imagine you're in a bitter divorce and you have the most lucrative franchise in human history as one of your asserts, that 50 percent is going to your evil harpy ex. "Fine," george says. "You get half of all the money from the releases of Star Wars forever? Then I shall never release them again!"

I don't know if a Special Edition counts as an all new movie in the eyes of the courts, but if it did doing that would be a perfect "F You" to the ex.

Interesting - they didnt get married until '91.

Back in the day, in the novel of Shadows of the Empire, Luke used instructions left by Ben Kenobi to create a synthetic crystal to create his green lightsaber that appeared in Return of the Jedi.

Just got my copy and...phew! 12 pages on this thread already. Well, I'm sure this has been touched on, but...that new Force power...ick. It seems fine mechanically , but just MHO, it feels like it violates everything the Force is about, and is just a sop for the technician crowd. If this is where they're going I'm almost grateful there's only a few more career books left.

I like the rest so far though, and eagerly looking forward to the urban sections.

I can't find it on Amazon, is that on purpose or am I just bad at the internet?

I have to agree that I don't care much for Manipulate either. Not that I want to see it happen, but I don't understand why it can't be used to do 'mind tricks' on Droids considering the other effects it can do. It also doesn't seem to have the Harm side with Droids--you can fix them with an Upgrade much like Heal, but the damaging side is something entirely different.

I felt a little weird about it at first, but I really like the image of holding your speeder bike together past its limit through the sheer power of the force.

Hmmm... the mystery deepens

I'll agree that aspect was intriguing, but it feels more like a part of Move than a whole new power.

It is listed on the UK releases for next week.

Yeah, Manipulate is something of an odd duck power, being largely around using the Force to repair vehicles and droids. Since I generally don't play techie-type characters, I doubt it's something I'll ever make use of.

To be honest, it felt like it was written so as to be a bone to the Artisan spec, who really doesn't seem to get a whole lot out of this book in terms of new toys to play around with.

Actually, Manipulate is an official Force Power that has been used by Kazdan Paratus in the Force Unleashed computer game. Anakin Skywalker also has dabbled some with this power. Han Solo is a serial abuser of Manipulate although he will deny anything if asked about it.

That side bar on no synthetic crystals seems like a thing Disney requested as a "This isn't Cannon anymore guys" statement.

Manipulate does seem odd. It doesn't have many ways to be used in an Evil way, gaining Conflict with it would all come down to using DS pips, perhaps excluding a "selfish" use or "personal gain". Some kind of Influence or Harm style Control upgrade would have been interesting.
