The Endless Vigil for Endless Vigil is Finished

By Blackbird888, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

I have not dug into the rules or descriptions entirely, but I can answer questions about species, specializations, talents, signature abilities, gear, etc, etc..

Probably the most anticipated question, though:

There is a new Force power. It is called Manipulate, and is essentially mechu-deru. It's basic power applies to vehicles, but upgrades greatly expand its applications to Computers and Mechanics. Haven't delved deep into it yet, but there you go.

Blackbird! Congratulations, and good luck with the burden!

Outlines of the specs and sig abilities,if you could, with descriptions of the new talents?

EDIT: Also, spec skills for the new specs, possibly?

Edited by Absol197

Could we have an outline on Muuns and Pantorans (within reason of course)?

I've waited so long for Muuns.

Also, what kind of droids were added?

Thank you in advance :D

Alright then.

Species!

Gand are identical to their write up in Edge of the Empire, obviously.

The Muun have 3s in Intellect and Cunning, and 1s in Willpower and Presence. They have 9+ for wound and strain threshold, and 90 XP. They start with 1 rank in Education and Core Worlds. They have Deep Pockets, which gives them +1000 credits, which explicitly may not be spent during character creation.

Pantorans have a 3 in Presence and a 1 in Willpower, 11+ for Strain threshold, 10+ for Wound, 110 XP. They begin with 1 rank in Cool or Negotiation, and remove 1 Setback imposed due to cold conditions.

Specializations (skills)!

Investigators have Education, Underworld, Perception, and Streetwise. Racer has Cool, Coordination, Piloting (Planetary) and Piloting (Space), which is identical to Hotshot, which I don't think has happened before. Sentry has Coordination, Lightsaber, Stealth, and Vigilance.

Specialization impressions.

Investigator kind of has parts of Marshal (Unrelenting Skeptic), Enforcer (Talk the Talk), and Analyst (Valuable Facts). Lot's of Street Smarts, lots of Keen Eyed. Curiously, you can avoid purchasing every single Force talent in the tree. If you want a detective without the Force, you can pull it off with Investigator. Standout talents include Reconstruct the Scene, which is essentially your Sherlock scan partaining to an individual's physical characteristics. Street Smarts (Improved) -- make a formidable Streetwise or Underworld check to get a clue from the GM; difficulty decreases with ranks of Street Smarts. Sense the Scene is basically Reconstruct the Scene but a Force talent, and allows you to detect emotions.

Racer is kind of an all-around piloting spec. It only has 3 Force talents, but you'll have to purchase at least 1 to access all the normal talents. Has more ranks of Shortcut and Shortcut (Improved), so syncs nicely with Navigator. Skilled Jockey, naturally; the full suite of Full Throttle talents, which I called. Freerunning is kind of interesting, allowing you to spend 1 strain to move anywhere with short range by using a move maneuver; an Improved version allows you to suffer 4 strain to extend to medium range. Better Luck Next Time is a hard Cool check to cause a competitor to have "a major misfortune," talking about racing. Kind of a narrative talent, that. Superhuman Reflexes (Force talent) allows you to remove a Despair on a Piloting check and replace it with Success equal to Cool, once per session. They have a rank of Intuitive Evasion as well.

Sentry is pretty much a defensive combat spec. Not much focus on Stealth (2 ranks of Sleight of Mind). Conflict talent is Fear the Shadows, which is a hard Deception check to force a single minion group or rival to flee the encounter. Impossible Fall is basically... Batman glide. Constant Vigilance (not a Force talent) allows the user always use Vigilance for initiative is they want. It has 2 ranks of Reflect and Reflect (Improved). Saber Throw, again, and Saber Throw (Improved), which increases range to long, but for more Force points. Interestingly, you can avoid all of those talents except for Improved Reflect if you don't use a lightsaber. 2 ranks of Dodge, Uncanny Reactions, 1 rank of Conditioned.

Actually, Racer has Conditioned as well. Man, that's a common talent.

I will get to gear in a few minutes.

I only got one gear question:

New saber hilt, yay or nay?

Thanks so much!

...would it be too much to ask for the layout of all the trees, too?

I know a lot of people do care about gear, but it's something I really couldn't care less about...I'm not being selfish, I sw...you know what? Yeah, I am being a little selfish. Sorry...

EDIT: Oh, also: number of Force Rating in each spec? I'm assuming one each, but it would be nice to know for sure...

Edited by Absol197

1 each, yes. I'll have to postpone the rest for now, I've got an appointment. Be back in about an hour, though.

Before I go, I should point out about Racer: It actually seems perfectly functional for footraces. Which... makes sense. Shortcut is agnostic on where it can be used, and Freerunning seems to be a personal scale talent.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

*cough*

Sorry about that. I'm... excited. Very excited. Especially about Sentry—from your description, it looks amazing.

(And we haven't even gotten started in that game where I'm playing a Sentinel/Shadow! It's still my favorite career, even if I haven't gotten to play one at all yet...)

The new Force power sounds nice too, though I admit to liking the sneaky aspects of the Sentinel more than the techie ones. Still, a good one for the Artisans and the slicer Shadows—and possibly also for the Racer?

So, elephant in the room... what are the Signature Abilities like?

Oh, Blackbird, my standard, hyper-OCD question: what is the total amount of XP needed to buy the full tree for Manipulate (and is it a FR 1 power)?

No, the most anticipated question (at least according to a survey of 100% of the people in my office with Angry Penguins as avatars) is what are the Sig Abilities like! Details man!

I was wondering if there was any further details you could give on the new force power?

Kinda bummed that Sentry simply piles on more Reflect. I was kinda hoping it'd have some ranks in Parry to make it combo nicely with Shien Expert, but I guess 2 ranks of Dodge doesn't completely suck. Going to presume that since it has Improved Reflect it doesn't have a Force Rating talent?

Pantorans kinda feel like a variant of Twi'leks in terms of mechanics (setback die removal gets changed for hot/arid to cold/freezing) but do look viable as a species and should please Maelora in being one of the "pretties."

Gonna guess that the core of Manipulate is adding your Force dice to Mechanics checks, not too unlike Enhance with Athletics, and that Control Upgrades not only expand the skill list but let you do funky things with machines like wipe their memory or even affect them at a distance.

Um, sorry to derail so early, but... are you MY Jak Starr?

Oh, hot dam, you don't know how long we've waited for these! :)

But yeah, nice to see a mix for once. F&D seems to be the line that caters to the humanoid types.

Well hello there! Something for a certain pudgy Klatooinian Sentinel (Artisan) to consider

Thanks so much!

Oh yeah... thanks, Blackbird. We seem to cross swords more often than not, but I appreciate you doing us all a service and telling us all about the new book!

Truly, it is a solemn and sacred duty that all who first receive a new book must honor.

Our corvian friend makes his murder (or do you have an unkindness?) proud this day!

Man, now I kind of want to do a Hutt parkour artist. . . . .

I kinda thought it would allow to make big robo legs like Maul had.

Our GM has absolutely forbidden Hutt Ataru specialists for that reason.

Regarding the book, thanks for providing us with info, Blackbird!

Are there more lightsaber crystals in it, and if so, what are they like?

Are there any conflict talents in any of the specializations?

What sort of additional rules and such are there in the book?

I was wondering if there was any further details you could give on the new force power?

Why yes I am! Hi! Didn't know you were popular in the forums too! ^.^
