Outrider Regatta?

So a few months back I saw a member post about plans to do an “Outrider Regatta”

Essentially, an oval long course on two maps with all the fun debris and asteroids; run like a chariot race of sorts…
I couldn’t delve deep at the time and read into the post
now I can’t find the OP
… I was wondering if anyone had pulled it off and how the event should run?





Some details I was concerned about
obviously Dash Rendar is the prime choice... but ...?
Should the Race only be limited to the YT-2400?
what about adding a Spoiler/Phantom Bounty Hunter racer to the Mix?

I feel like for this to work, it would have to be like small-time semi-pro auto races, where the races use either classes of cars or even the exact same model of cars with limited customization allowed. So you could do an X-wing race, or a TIE Interceptor race, or a HWK race (because it would be funny, not good). I think TIE Fighters would be ideal. You have a lot of dial and a movement action option, and the cost for hitting an asteroid is suitably frightening. You pack the course with asteroids, so lots of movement decisions have to be made, and you can't just blow through and soak the damage as a consistent strategy. Your mod could be either Engine Upgrade for an added maneuver option or a Hull or Shield to let you get another chance to run over a rock.

I saw a post about using Y-wings
with the addition of Scum and Aces ships, the pilot choices would be more ideal...

I really wish I could make using a single ship viable without having to make a bunch of custom pilot cards...

Limit pilot skills?(treat all ships as pilot skill 5 or something.) and roll off for who moves first?(every turn, make an initative roll) Otherwise VI Dash is always going to move first, and unless someone brought an ion cannon, he's just going to run out of range before anyone can catch up.
