What ships/expansions are you okay with not buying?

By Chief Hugh, in X-Wing

I think I am more a collector than a player, since in my area (Hong Kong) there are not many X-Wing players. I gathered a group for HotAC campaign but we do not play regularly. That being said, I provide all the ships, so I usually buy all the ships I like.

So far I don't play scum very much.

Ships I didn't bought are:

Hawk

Jumpmaster

Scyk

Khiraxz

YV-666

Shadowcaster

I don't plan to buy:

Quadjumper

The only thing I don't buy are the paywall ships....I mean Epic ships.

There are a few similar sentiments being expressed about epic. I just suggest you try an epic game or two, with at least one huge ship per side, and then decide if they are worth getting.

You could always keep the non-epic bits and re-sell the rest.

I tried epic a few times, it didn't really grab me. I like the smaller dogfighting feel; Huge ships is for Armada in my opinion.

A fair response. Try it first, then decide. Too many people seem to pre-judge epic, which is my favourite style of the game.

Mostly scummy things... not very appealing to me.

Probably not:

YV-666 (ugly truck)

JM5000 (ugly croissant)

Khirhasdfdfd (meh)

Scyk (very meh)

IGs (ugly bug)

Tantive (wife will kill me)

Maaaaybe:

Quadjumper

Ghost

Shadowcaster

HoTR

Regrets:

YT2400

Rebel Transport (only the big ship, i like having 3 diferent X wings)

I will collect every Imperial ship im able, and probably all the terrorists ships as well

In hindsight I could live without The Outrider, Khirax, Scyk, E-wing, T-70 expansion, Tie Punisher and Rebel transport, some cards I would buy on the internet. Not planning to ever buy Ghost or Sabines abommination Tie.

IG
-> ugly as s...

Rainbow TIE
Shadowcaster
Ghost
-> Disney channel nonsense

HotR
-> won't play more than 1 YT1300 (I don't play the first much often since PTW are boring as hell), don't need a 4th T70

Tantive and Raider -> sorry, too pricey for the use I'd have

Regarding HOTR, it sucks to have to get another Falcon, but there is so many great cards and pilots in that box, that I need it :)

Yup. I would like the black T-70... but another YT? Even though i will like to have pilot Rey.

My first idea was to buy it halfsies with a friend... He will get the Falcon mini, and i will get the T70...

The problem will be splitting the cards

Shouldn't be that hard. There is no overlap in which card belong to which ships besides the EPTs, and you get two of thous. If you don't want the falcon, you don't get Rey.

So far I own at least 1 of everything and multiples of all small ships. Until Wave 9. I've bought a Fang and would like an Arc or 2 and a Shadow caster but have no interest in the TIE/SF. Nowt from Wave 10 really interests me (possibly the u-wing?) and 1 ship I will never buy is the Quadjumper. Ugly looking stoopid thing...

I look forward to the Tie Striker, I like the title and the way it looks. I hope its priced close to tie fighters, so it will be a fun agile ship that can be added to most lists.

Sad to see so much hate for the TIE/sf, Quickdraw is such a fun ship (also bruatly devastating burst down a Falcon in one turn cool)!

Most of them.

Specifically anything related to Rebels or TFA.

I have no interest in the Protectorate fighter. I think because it's an expansion that's exclusive to itself in terms of card content.

How, exactly, does it "bust down" a Falcon in one turn?

6 to 8 total dice (over two attacks) against 1 agility helps

considering it's only 31 points of the list

Burst, ofc :P And like FGD said, she delivers 6-8 dice on her own. Thats before the Gamma Vets deliver their Homing MIssiles and the Crackshot TIE finishes them off. She is amazing. Even "normal lists" can do it with her, just use Vessery and Riad and see the Falcons (or anything) melt. People aren't doing her justice, she brings something entirely unique and strong into imperial lists.

My list:

Everything not Imperial.

I'm serious. If I need cards from the other factions there is a second hand market for them.

I said the same thing in the beginning and I wish so hard I would have stuck to it. So much unused plastic so much buyers remorse. Thankfully finally broke the cycle and quit buying all together but I can make one crazy and massively expensive diarama. That cartoon that goes mistakes were made, god do I get that.

I don't think I have buyer's remorse. But I do have a lot that seldom gets used on a table. But it is my hobby.

I get how he/she would get two 2 Dice + 1 for Range 1 attacks. That is 6 dice. But how is she getting 8 dice on his/her own.

Good lord, is this how little people care about this poor ship? The TIE/sf, like the ARC, is basicaly a 3 dice primary ship from the front, because of its title.

Well... It WAS the Scyk.

yep, 2 on order...

But... But... But... I care that is why I asked. :(

hmmmm... I don't really care for the huge ships other than the Gozanti due to the scale - I especially dislike the Raider as there were other EU ships they could have used.

I've always hated the E-Wing.

I'm also one of those guys who buys secondary faction ships based on what helps my main faction (Scum), so to the the following expansions are worthless to me:

X-Wing, A-Wing, B-Wing

Pretty much most TIE variants

I collect them and I really like trying new things, so one of each is my starting point. Actually, looking at my Excel sheet, I'm closer to 2 of each, ignoring the large base ships.

At this point, the only small-base ship I don't have 2 of and don't plan to buy a second one at some point in the future is the Punisher. Those I may double up on include: Scyk, E-wing, TIE/sf, Fang, the Phantom (if it ever came standalone, I don't need 2 VCX). I'm completely not convinced I'll get 2 Quadjumpers or TIE strikers ever, but not having flown them, it's hard to say for sure. My sons all love Sabine, so we'll get more than one of that TIE for sure ;)

Of course, my glorious Defenders rule the roost, with 3 reds, 2 greys, and a white/blue one. They were just matched in numbers by the FO, since I needed a second TFA damage deck so I don't have to decide whether my son or I get the horrible, painful, original deck.

I fly TIE Fighters so there are lots of ships I have no interest in. I have purchased ships for cards and also purchased cards from ebay. Ships I haven't bought/won't buy:

Ghost

ARC

T-70

Shadowcaster

Fang

Yv-666

HWK

Aggressor

K-wing

HOTR

U-wing

Upsilon shuttle

Quadjumper

Ships I bought for cards and never flew/resold/traded/gave away:

M3A Scyk

G1-a

Punishing one

Yt-1300

Yt-2400

E-wing

Z-95

TIE Punisher

Starviper

I must have 1 of everything, minimum. Can't really explain why. I just love them all. I play about 10% competitive and the rest casual. Have only played epic twice but wish my friends and I had time for more because it is a completely different play style with completely different pilots shinning.

Financially and intelectually I can understand someone only wanting ships you like and fly the most. Emotionally, however, how can anyone not want like 36 - an entire fighter wing with 3 squadrons - of every small ship???
