Nothing more frustrating in x-wing than losing by a single hit point left on your last enemy ship.
Sadly I've had it happen to me THREE times in the past couple weeks.
Anyone else lose this closely a lot?

sure there is
how about losing to eight consecutive naked evades on a freaking bomber?
I'd rather lose that close and have a good game then a boring wipeout.
Ok, I'd rather win that close, fair enough.

This. Sounds like fantastic games.
Losing a Final salvo 5 dice to 2 feels worse

Dallas Parker?
If it doesn't come down to the last hitpoint on either side, neither player is playing hard enough

There is nothing more fantastic than losing by a single hull point, it means the game is as close as can be and we've both done our best + had dice on our side.
Those are the best games.
I hear heavy Scyks have one more hit point. Just saying.

Yeap had seveal game come down to the last dice role .... but that's great a lot more exciting that wiping some one from the table 100-0
The last regional i played, went 3-3. Lost one game by 2 points, and another by 8. Both games went to time and i was chasing two other ships with one hp each with full health ships.
Frustrating.
The moment you roll 12 green blanks in a row (4 rolls of 3 dice on two fangs), that's when you feel frustrated
Edited by Schyzo KittyOn Sunday I was playing my brother and I lost down to the last volley, Fenn Rau was at range 1 and behind me, he shot at my damaged Backdraft and I just could not get enough evade's to cancel his attacks, otherwise I might of killed him as I would of got 3 die and plus a free auto crit, it was close and fun to boot.
Am liking the wave 9 ships I played so far, next up might be the ARC's

How many times do we have to tell you two HWK's is a bad list?
Nothing worse? I lost my last game at the UK Team Championships by a single hull point and, to make matters worse, if I'd chosen a 2 forward rather than a 1 forward my opponent wouldn't have been in range 3 and wouldn't have been able to roll the evades he needed to keep that last hull. Not only that, they won the round 2-1, going 6th while we ended up 21st.
It was a ******* great game.
i lost by a single hp at a tourny last weekend, it was sooooo close too because I had backdraft and he was being chased by bossk, I made a bad move and got stuck in a corner and was forced to fly off the board. If there was one more round of shooting i would have won and made a huge come back
Nah I prefer close games to steamrolling my opponent.
Recently I didn't win 2 tournaments because of a single hit point on a ship required for me to win.
Played a OicunnPalp/Whisper vs OL/PalpShuttle/Whisper a few weeks back. OL died fairly quickly. Oicunn took out the PalpShuttle, before being taken out himself next turn. The two Whispers, both missing a shield, and mine carrying a stress, were then on their own, within range on of each other facing a corner of the board, in parallel with each other.
What followed was an epic 35 minute long dance of heavily considered decloak rolls, hopeful guessing, and outright deceiving.
As time was called, both ships were down to one hull, and I was carrying a Damaged Engine crit. I decloaked to the side, he decloaked toward me. I caught him off guard, pulling a K-turn. He pulled a hard one leaving him in my arc but me out of his, and was forced to reposition with a barrel roll to at least trade the shot. Two R1 shots from single hull Phantoms with no modifiers. I shot first, rolling three natural hits to his pair of uncloaked dice. He was dead, but simultaneous fire meant he had a return shot. I was now cloaked, at least. He rolled two hits and a crit to my single evade. We were both dead.
He had an advantage on dice in the final salvo round. We rolled. A smegging draw, again, 5-5. We rerolled, and he took it by a single hit.
I lost by zero hit points. Best game I've ever played, bar none.
Now, compare that to the time I ran 4x Homing Missile Bombers against 3x Defenders, and took out both Ryad and Vessery in the second turn... that was crap. Yeah, it was 100-0, but it felt rubbish. Everything I built the list for worked as it should, but it felt hollow and unearned.
The close games are the ones you'll always remember and talk about, win or lose, good or bad. I'll take those all day long.

Then you look in the mirror and see FGD looking back at you.
We had a small tournament in our FLGS a while back. I played a list which I didn't expect to win with, I just wanted to have fun watching people fly against something they hadn't ever seen before. True enough, I ended up in the last game 0-2 facing the other 0-2 gentleman. We had a great time, and I won by one point. As my opponent and I were discussing the game, he told me it was the most enjoyable game he had flown that day, even though he lost. Being competitive is fun for me, even in a loss. Getting wiped off the board just makes me feel stupid and annoyed.
Last week at X-Wing night I lost like this. Both me and the guy I was playing finally got around to flying the Misthunter. He jumped to a early lead killing mine, but then my HWK's started to whittle down his forces killing his Starvipers. It ended up with me having a HWK with one hull left his his Misthunter with 1 hull left...
But I couldn't turn to nail him for the final hit, and had to come around again, because HWK's turn like a brick and he nailed me before I could finish him off.
It was honestly a more enjoyable game then when I played a Dash/Corran list and at the end had lost like two shields on Dash...
are you kidding me? losing by 1hp means that was a **** close game and was probably very fun to fly.
The ones that are frustrating are flatout wipes or ones that you SHOULD have won but your last roll was abysmal.
I faced a rebel player flying mangler ten numb and i had backdraft. i fired first because he had PS0 crit. Both of us at 1hp. Range 3, through a rock, i land hit hit crit via my ability and he evades it naturally. He did a red move so hes stressed and had no mods, but literally all he needs is 1 hit for an auto crit mod which i cant dodge thanks to ten numb. Solid eyeballs. So i got one more try and this time it went through lol.
He wasnt exactly upset because it was an intense game but i could understand him being disgruntled because i was dead. I was so freakin' dead right there and he missed a guaranteed kill lol.

To me that's the frustrating part. Although to be fair, if the game comes down to a single dice roll there's a really good chance someone could of done something better at some point...
But in a really close match where both people are flying equally well (or poorly
) it could come down to a single dice roll and having the dice betray you is hard to live with.
Of course we tend to remember those more than we do when we one shot a TIE at range 3 though a rock with Stealth Device... Which I did once and it was awesome!
Imperial Vets had just come out and I went to the flgs to grab my preorder, which btw was well over a week late, but lets not go into that. So, never practiced against them, never had time to prepare a list against them, so took my trusty dual YT2400 Dash n Vrill list out, and promptly flew Vrill off the board trying to K-turn. Managed to take out a 2 defender + Bomber list with just Dash and at the end I had one HP left. Glorious.
