You Cannot Use EI to take Youngster's Elite Action, per Frank

By digitalbusker, in X-Wing Rules Questions

I just got a response to a rules question:

In response to your rules question:

Does EI's "an equipped upgrade card" clause mean "equipped to you"? Can a TIE Fighter with Experimental Interface use EI to take the action on Youngster's Elite upgrade, assuming the two ships are in range and Youngster has an appropriate Elite upgrade equipped? Thanks in advance. This is a valuable service!

No. The friendly TIE fighter does not actually have the card equipped and therefore cannot use EI with them. That’s some creative thinking, but unfortunately does not work.

Man, now Frank thinks I thought that ridiculous idea would work. This is just like that one episode of Sports Night.

Well that's a **** shame. That might have been a nice little combo that might let Youngster and EI see a little play ships with no EPT for PTL..

Well there have been people who thought that the EI on another ship could be used to activate the upgrade located on Youngster.

Of course there is one ship that CAN use EI to activate the upgrade card on Youngster: Youngster!
