Hey guys! I wanted to ask a question for some clarification. For the X-Wing game would the words "Assign" and "Receive" be viewed as the same thing? For example Attani Mind Link says when a ship is "assigned a focus or stress token" but using Zuckuss crew states "receive any number of stress tokens." If someone is running a Mind Link squadron with Zuckuss as a crew on one of the ships would he in turn stress the whole team out or not given the use of words? Debris Clouds states "Assign a stress token" which is different than Zuckuss' wording which previously led me to believe FFG deliberately chose these words but now I'm not so sure.
I sifted through the rules PDF and couldn't find anything about Assigning vs Receiving (even when executing a red maneuver the rules pdf says receive not assign).
I've been using Attani Mind Link a lot lately but after running a tournament this weekend a few questions arose and I wanted to come here for clarification.
Thanks in advance fellas.
Assign vs Receive question
They're synonymous. When you assign or are assigned a token you receive it, and when you receive a token, you've been assigned it.

If I am trying to explain this to people is there any rules citations? Generally in X-Wing FFG has been pretty clear with most of their terminology so for the rules lawyers out there (especially at tournaments) I'd like to be able to clearly explain it to them.
Assigning is just the term for "player moves token to this ship" while receive is directly on "ship receives this token"
Its one of those oddities coming from "You" not being the player but the ship itself. Theyre the same thing far as gameplay is concerned.

To explain it in my Facebook X-Wing group I also cited the rules for Debris and Red Maneuvers, if Receive and Assign were not the same Attanni Mindlink would essentially never have to worry about stress because those two instances state Receive but clearly the rules are meant for those ships to receive stress.
Thanks for the clarification.
As far as I know, there is no place in the rules or FAQ where this is made explicit. However, there are also zero examples of "assign" and "receive" being used to mean two different things in the rules. Every official ruling and commonly accepted interpretation treats the two words as functionally identical.
