Reprinted Scyk Titles?

By jkokura, in X-Wing

Anyone think there's a chance we'll be able to send in our old title cards and have FFG send us errated cards? Or are they gonna be ok with an adjusted version that we've printed and sleeved in with original copies?

Jacob

I might make little stickers. Or be artless and write +1 Hull on with a biro.

To be honest Daredevil, Tactician and the like all have different wording on the originals to the FAQ now and it's worked fine then. Printing out that page of the FAQ should be enough to assuage any doubters.

No, they don't send out reprinted cards due to errata.

They never had in the past so I'm not sure why people think they will now. The closest they've come is reprinted cards for Imperial Assault, and those were the top 32 prize for the Store Championships.

i dont get why people are asking this.

FFG would be the ONLY company in existence to release updated cards/rules for an errata outside of "Edition X!" i.e. major overhauls in general not just an errata.

Old tau for 40k were so heavily faq'd i might as well not even have the **** book. Still managed to play fine.

I would absolutely love to be able to replace or purchase reprinted cards.

I hate having to drag the FAQ out for things like this, and i hope they make them available somehow. This can be very frustrating when playing with people who dont keep up to date on the FAQs to have the new printed card there to show them would be a huge help and make things more slick.

In another thread someone suggested printing out the FAQ cards and putting them in the sleeve with the original upgrade, so you both have the card and the corrected one.

Little bit of work but it works.

THey'd never release a pack for "Updated cards here!" because then we'd just buy them for the cards to begin with. I think they update the cards in new boxes but it takes awhile for those to show up.

Not true. Decipher, who used to print a Star Wars CCG, used to allow people to send in their old cards that had been errated and return reprinted versions. Just because you aren't aware of other companies who have done this doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

FFG have printed updated versions of cards. The Imperial Assault alt-arts are a fine example. I think it's reasonable to think that there's potential for this. For instance, what if for the cost of $1 per card you could send in your tacticians, your Deadeyes, your Heavy Scyk Titles, and get back an updated printout of those cards.

I'd do it. Lots of people would. Some wouldn't, and that's fine if that's their choice. But I would, and I think I'd really appreciate it if FFG offered this.

If they don't keep up with the FAQ's then how would they know about the reprinted cards, and why should they assume yours are correct and theirs are wrong?

Just because you aren't aware of other companies who have done this doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

And just because one company did it, doesn't mean anyone else will... And considering FFG hasn't done with all the other cards they've errated there's no reason to think they'll start now.

FFG have printed updated versions of cards.

They do I believe change things on future reprints, but that's not even close to the same thing as sending a card in and having it replaced.

But I would, and I think I'd really appreciate it if FFG offered this.

It would actually be nice but that doesn't mean it's likely to happen.

I'd love some stickers that add it smoothly, would be nice of FFG to make a sheet for us to print.

Vanor, why are you arguing against this idea. Why are you even point by point trying to disprove my post? Think of things this way...

Alex Davey and other FFG people have said they regularly read the forums. They've also said they get ideas from the forums, and want to listen to the player base. So... If we all said, "Hey FFG, this is an idea I could get behind!" wouldn't that be more productive?

Just my thoughts.

Jacob

I'm not? I'm pointing out it hasn't happened before and is unlikely to happen now. I even said it would be nice, but I don't expect it to happen.

NOPE... but in future reprints they will be fixed to show the new wording. I ONLY have 8 Seekers currently, so I may pick up two more in the next six months... with the fixed titles in there.

;)

Errata'd Alt art Heavy Scyk cards as tournament swag inboound.

Can I send in my valueless proof of purchase for new cards? Come on FFG. Print on Demand for fixed cards. You can do it!

They've already put the new card art online. There are hundreds of places that will print high quality cards with the art that you provide. Just get some printed and sleeve them with your old card.

I wonder if organizing a group buy or selling them goes against ffg/forum rules...

Or well, make a template (just the borders) of the card in photoshop and print it out. Then add the added text to the template and delete the borders. Stick the card to the template using doublesided tape (be carefull some are pretty strong and removing them damages the card). Then send it through the printer and you have an updated Scyk Title.

But consider how your printer inserts the paper. Some printers might jam this way.

Regarding FFG sending fixed cards: When Juke was missprinted in the german version of the TFA core set the german distributor oficially offered to send in the missprinted cards and replace them with corrected ones.

I know it's a bit different but not completely.

This. Those stickers could have the size of the text part of the cards and replace the complete text on it.

If they are really generous they could even send those out on demand, but in my opinion a printing version would be fine (just get together with your playgroup and order a well printed sheet of stickers that fixes everyones cards).

German publisher ****** it up with the translation (I'm not fond on many translations - but thats a different story) and made corrections afterwards - this is of course possible, but corrective measures like this cost the publisher money. Investors are not amused. You forget that this planet spins around making profit.

As someone who has tried Scyks in the past, and am now looking forward to trying them again, I would love to have re-printed / corrected cards.
