U-Wing is a troop transport?

By Hidatom, in X-Wing

The C-160 Transall and the SR-71 Blackbird are also the same size. But one of them is a troop Transport and the other a two seated spy plane.

The B1 Rockwell is even bigger than the Transall.

The Y-Wing is a bomber. It's designed to carry ordnance and not troops.

And remember: Its a Rebel Transport.

I think I have been inspired to repaint this as a Keystone cops police van....

I checked Wookiepedia and it was very conclusive, I do believe that it could be a troop transport with a capacity of..............

Passengers: Several.

Chinook can carry 30-50 odd soldiers, so I dont see why this would be any different.

You're kidding me right dude?

The Chinook is basically a flying tube.

I think you have missed my point completely. A Chinook is roughly the same length and can hold up to 50 troops. How many troops do you see get in/out of the U Wing?

And yes I am extremely familiar with the Chinook as have been transported in them.

Alright, I can't top that last bit.

As for the U-Wing... About five. Because 60% of that length is like, wing, dude. The other bits? Engines, systems. The Chinook has the distinct advantage of being able to mount a lot of that stuff on top.

Sure in raw length they're similar but it's pretty cramped in there. Shoulder to shoulder you could fit maybe 15 extremely uncomfortable men in there.

But the U-Wing should generally only carry about 10 at most.

I'll just leave that here:

A squad of maybe 10 very uncomfortable people? (2 pilots + 8ish people)

Others have said it and it look about right.

Looking at the number of handholds in the interior shots, I'd say 2 crew + 10 (or 8 with door gunner)

And just like that, my desire to fly one of these just blew up on the ground.

I wonder if there will be a Rogue One title upgrade for the u-wing.

We know there are a bunch of unspoiled crew in it though. Including something that looks like a crew member called: "Recon Team" or something similar.

Recon Team,

Discard this card to see your opponent's dials before you set yours.

I wonder if there will be a Rogue One title upgrade for the u-wing.

If they rerelease it for a fix maybe....we already can see that in the bo there is no such title right now.

As it is still in production, it is a possibility. Though likely you are correct. But... it could happen still.

But you are also right, there could be a change to what we've seen...it happened with the Mist Hunter losing one Tractor Beam card...so things could change.

Though I doubt we'd get a Rogue One title right now, since we already have a title in the bo the Uwing wings, are a title card...iif a Rogue One ttle does get released it might have to have the rules for the wings and another rule together. Or just alow a 2nd title to be equipped.

I see the U-Wing like this

147643-004-F9F9F54F.jpg

Smaller than a "normal" tank and can carry half a dozen people...

When trying to guess the number of people who can fit into a military transport, the safe number to go with is always 'one more'.

Too bad they can't do this on an U-Wing...

Weeeell, a Mil Mi-24 "Hind" chopper is also a good real-life analogy for the U-Wing (can carry 8 soldiers), if tanks are not your liking...

"Yes Sir, we can now say for sure that this thread has been officially hijacked. We are waiting on the demands from the terrorists".

You can't go very further with screenshots from a film trailer.

Is the U-Wing a troop transport? YES. Probably an armed light transport for a squad of 8-10 soldiers. Fast and agile. So you can get in, get out in one piece, and probably offer some support fire.

Is that logical/has the space for troops? Are thing logical in StarWars? Trained troops that can't hit things, door that jam if you shoot them from inside, and open if you shoot them from outside, giant battlestations without HEAVY antiaircraft defense, etc.

Real life examples as the APCs, or multi-role choppers are only examples of the probable inspiration of the designers.

Well, to be fair, the U-Wing doesn't have to worry about running over land mines that, when they explode, penetrate into the passenger compartment through the bottom armor.
