Sabine's Tie fighter article now up

By Karhedron, in X-Wing

I wanted Sabines tie since It was announced, just becuase I really like Sabine and and the rebels cartoon. I think the show is doing a really great job of showing the back story of the rebellion in the early years, steeling weapons and ships, feeling with pirates etc.

I play rebel and the family plays imperials, I am often jellious of the shenagians they get to pull with the inquisitor, cloak, and suck. It appears this tie will allow for some neat tricks on the rebel side.

Idk if it will be meta breaking or not, but it's a beautiful ship with a great back story. It looks like a lot of fun to fly and my favorite part of the game is actually using ships I enjoy and messing around with them.

If you have concerns about the ship in lore, it was used a few different times and is probaly less obscure than some other ships, I highly recommend you watch the rebels episodes with it in it, when the steel it it's pretty funny.

I don't watch Rebels and therefore don't know the backstory, but this TIE seems to be awesome!

If you watched The Clone Wars cartoon and liked it, then I recommend this one. You have to get through the first 4-5 episodes, but it gets much better.

If you haven't watched The Clone Wars cartoon, then I would recommend it. You have to find the chronological order of episodes for it to make sense, though. I don't know why they did that, but it's stupid. Watch them in order for it to make sense. The first couple of seasons are OK, but it really gets better in the later episodes. Personally, I think that cartoon helps me hate the prequels less. Well, that and fan edits.

Awful awful awful.... I don't mind that this ship is in the game but I do protest against how it has been implemented.

2 crew slots.. so what? I can't imagine how they can fit comfortably in that thing.

Not being able to be targed and yet can fly around shooting off emps and the like?

I would had thought if this ship is blasting EMP's then it would had immediately blown your cover?

This ship is going to be an absolute menace, being able to float freely using BMST

Why would an EMP blast give you away when you suffer it's effects as well...?

It just doesn't seem logical at all. The imperials see the rebel squad flying towards them.. with a tie fighter next to them. Nope its OK.. hey that tie is flying towards us.. yeah thats cool.. Hey that tie keeps fuzzing up with EMP, which is buggering us.. yeah no problems, its one of ours I swear.

Silly question, if I buy this set, can I field UNPAINTED classic Tie Fighters with the pilots?

In fact, the yellow one is Sabine's masterpiece, and is unique... sooooo

I mean, stormtroopers are pretty dumb so it isn't outside the realm of possibility that low level imperial pilots are also. "Hey guys, my bad i hit the wrong button. Won't happen again." Which it won't because it's one time use. In the Star Wars universe completely plausible. Most importantly it's going to be a fun ship with fun upgrades and fun pilot abilities and doesn't seem even remotely overpowered. The shop options they are adding seem to be adding a lot of fun elements to the game and potential for a lot of list diversity.

tie flying towards us and infront, rebels must be chasing it!

tie flying towards us but behind the enemy, rebels must not know its there!

While offensive to me as an Imperial, Captured TIE is a really cool, fluffy card.

"I'm pretending to be a TIE Pilot, and it'll fool the grunts, but anyone higher rank than me will know I'm not the real deal."

Fluffy, except for the fact that it also works on Scum and Rebels, inexplicably. I mean, mechanically I understand why, but the fluff doesn't explain that.

The fluff doesn't exactly explain why the Rebels are fighting other Rebels in the first place either :P
or...yaknow... rebel captive working on any nonrebel? other imps/scum shouldnt care

They're all trying to capture the Rebel for themselves, and don't want to accurately murder the person.

Who is that on the Captured TIE card?

ok, thats a good one. Props.

I'm thinking New Han with smugglers compartments and the EMP. Fly. in and Emp them early stalling there early game for you to get around the side.

Just curious

Would this affect her ship too? "Each ship at Range 1"

Yes.

Undeniably yes, as you are in range one of yourself.

Probably ninja'd.

EDIT: And, by ninja'd, I mean thread didn't update for three minutes and THEN I replied, hah.

So, how many do I want to buy? Four so I can have a Rebel tie party?

You only need two, as long as you don't mind running two of them with Imperial dials and models.

That could work, but only if I paint those Imperial TIEs in rad colors.

Actually you can probably get away with 1 depending on who is sharing a base template.

If Rex is sharing with Sabine, then those of us who want Asohka and do not want Zeb can easily get away with 1 and just use an imperial TIE.

Though thats something we'd have to crack it open to figure out.

No we don't. Since the beginning of the game which pilot goes on which base was always organized by the order of there pilot skill. Zeb and Sabine will share one base, Rex and Asoka the other.

I'm liking this loadout for Ahsoka. Makes her more self sufficient. Thoughts?

Juke

Sabine's Masterpiece

Recon Specialist

Have a good shot, spend a focus to gain an action and take an evade to power Juke, granting a modified Juked attack or a Juked attack and a good defense. Going to eat a rough shot? Spend to Barrel Roll out of arc. Love that her ability works on herself.

I'm just trying to figure out the following scenario in my head.

Vanilla PS Vader drops in behind Ahsoka in the Stolen TIE and TLs her.

' I have you now ' Vader says as he prepares to ROFLSTOMP his former apprentice. Nearby, Palpatine laughs maniacally as he rubs his temples in preparation to enhance the attack with his dark powers.

On board the Sabine's Masterpiece, she and Ahsoka are sweating bullets. 'I don't think I can shake him' says Ahsoka. 'Looks like Disney is about to have to pull back that 'Sabine's Super Art Set'' said Sabine sardonically.

In the deep vastness of space, two black ears pricked up at the prospect of lost money. 'Heh-ha, oh no you don't'!

Just then, VI Decoy ATP Tycho just barely nudges into Range 2...

And Vader just sits there in his cockpit.

'What are you doing Vader?' the Emperor raged. 'Strike her down!'.

' THEIRS NOWBAWDY TWO HIETS THET ES MI FREND ' Vader surmised as Tycho's AHM strikes him from the side.

'Vader you fool, your former apprentice is literally 10 feet in front of you. Use your anger and destroy her!'

' U IS STOOPID EYE AM NAWT KILLING MY OWN DOOD '

Vader suddenly snapped to his senses just in time to see the TIE Fighter dump a Proton Bomb right in front of his cockpit. He only has enough time give out a surprised ' WAT?! ' before it goes off.

Turning away from the sight of the blast without even seeing if his apprentice had survived or not, Palpatine pondered the poetic justice of having his powerful pawn perplexed onto a plainly pathetic path.

Not a bad idea. Of course the Falcon would be Ionised too but with a PWT, that would matter less than for most other ships.

Could make a mess of Swarms but to capitalise on it, you would probably need something to sprinkle a few bombs/mines into their path at the start of the following turn. Maybe a Warden K-wing with Sabine and some bombs of choice?
