Sabine's Tie fighter article now up

By Karhedron, in X-Wing

Because the EMP device is unique.

You literally have no need for more than 1.

The only reason you'd ever get more than 1 Sabine's TIE is if you wanna run one of them without the uniqueness slapped on there. Which so far is pretty much Rex and Rex alone, since his condition will piss a lot of people off. Especially high dice people (FU DASH)

The only nonunique in this entire expac is the VI card.

Yup. If you already have multiple Imperial TIEs, you're not going to need more than 2 Sabine's TIE sets, and then only for the cards - so you could have all 4 unique pilots in one Rebel list, but two-three are flying TIEs with bog-standard paintjobs.

While offensive to me as an Imperial, Captured TIE is a really cool, fluffy card.

"I'm pretending to be a TIE Pilot, and it'll fool the grunts, but anyone higher rank than me will know I'm not the real deal."

Fluffy, except for the fact that it also works on Scum and Rebels, inexplicably. I mean, mechanically I understand why, but the fluff doesn't explain that.

Clearly the Rebels think it's one of their captured TIE fighters.

And Scum just assume something with that loud a color scheme has to be on their side.

Mining Guild TIE Fighter : confirmed.

Huh, we can actually use that excuse.

Outer Rim Smuggler or Wild Space Fringer + Smuggling Compartment + EMP Device

29-32 points of turrety, large-base, ion pumping, space denying goodness.

At those points though, what would you bring to follow up on that?

Ion on its own doesnt do much unless its going to allow a juicy followup because you know where they are going, or theyre facing a rock/map edge. Taking it and hoping for them to be facing a rock/map edge alone would be a bad idea.

Rex's pilot ability is not optional. It moves the condition every time he changes targets.

Sweet a rebel TIE! I cant wait for the stolen Imperial X-Wings, with Imperial only mods, and a stack of repeated aces, that together potentially make it better than the rebel X-Wings!

I find your lack of adherence to the Imperial Navy Consolidated Procurement Standards, Vol XLII Section 32 Subsection 6: "Approved Equipment Suppliers/Space Vessels (Small)" ... disturbing.

Oh, but these X-Wings were taken for covert missions (meaning they are exempt from regulations) to attack small outposts, steal supplies and get the rebels blamed. In order to do so, the stolen X-Wings were first painted in drab grays and blues to look nothing like the rebel ones but instead an Imperial fighter ( this was done to totally fit in when flying in formation with rebels of low ranks who wont know better!) Then they took a bunch of the best pilots, Soontir, Stele, Howlrunner, Mauler, Darth Vader and Boba Fett, and send them off on their missions!

And the best part! They only stole one, but they all get to fly it, at the same time, in different places all over the galaxy because space pixie fairies and space unicorns!

Edit: It should be noted, I'm a fan of the Rebels Show, and like that they have brought this tie into the game, I'm just iffy on how it was implemented.

I'll freely admit I'm a relative newbie (lots of games against the local fish pond...zero experience in the big ocean that is tournament play) but this might be fun...

Outer Rim Smuggler — YT-1300 27 Intelligence Agent 1 "Chopper" 0 EMP Device 2 Smuggling Compartment 0 Ship Total: 30

Poe Dameron — T-70 X-Wing 31 Push the Limit 3 BB-8 2 Pattern Analyzer 2 Autothrusters 2 Ship Total: 40

Tycho Celchu — A-Wing 26 Push the Limit 3 Chardaan Refit -2 Rage 1 Autothrusters 2 A-Wing Test Pilot 0 Ship Total: 30

Intel Agent gets a peak at dials. Threat of EMP makes opponent do all kinds of nutty things trying to avoid getting Ioned. PS 8 Aces pounce.

I too hate this ******* expansion pack. (Seriously?!? A crew slot on a TIE Fighter?!? And we couldn't have one on the mediocre TIE/sf?)

As an Imperial player I've been feeling like a second class citizen for a while, which isn't right, as we're the only true citizens! Imperial Vets excepted, we haven't had a great expansion pack in a long time. The rebel terrorists just seem to get all of the toys.

Some unnamed Binarye Pirate or Blacksun soldier doesn't have the authority to fire on Imperials and risk Fel's Wrath.

The real question is why Lt Blount isn't firing on a TIE fighter...

The fluff doesn't exactly explain why the Rebels are fighting other Rebels in the first place either :P

or...yaknow... rebel captive working on any nonrebel? other imps/scum shouldnt care

They're all trying to capture the Rebel for themselves, and don't want to accurately murder the person.

so...since just the SF pack then?

As a rebel player who had almost zero desire to use a tie fighter in my builds, I must say there is some interesting stuff in here. The price points give some options where rebels traditionally didn't have much to pick from.

The Empire has no need to be covert. They are the Empire. They use overwhelming amounts of force and roll around in Star Destroyers and Death Stars and other s*** like that.

The Special Forces TIE Fighter isn't a TIE Fighter (hugely disappointed in this ship), the TAP only has one usable pilot (even if he is good, the rest of the set isn't), the TIE/fo was good, the TIE Punisher is still useless (and should have been the Missile Boat anyways), the Raider was a $100 tax for the TIE Advance buff, the Decimator was okayish I guess, and the Defender was way overcosted. We're also laughably behind in Imperial Only crew and upgrades.

Actually an Imperial prototype X-wing would be neat. But all the pilots would need to be unique (since the Rebels got them, the prototypes were probably only in limited use, and following the theft of the ships the remaining units would have probably almost all been scrapped. One may have been turned into a static display, but otherwise they'd be scrapped). And it would have to have some mechanic that makes it potentially better than the T-65 but could backfire and turn it into an expensive Z-95.

Put it on the list of "ships they'll do if they release Imperial Astromechs", under Imperial V-Wing and probably a couple other things.

So, how many do I want to buy? Four so I can have a Rebel tie party?

Jyou know what I love about this set?

That with the Masterpiece title on this ship, the modification then fits perfectly on another "official" tie using a basic Imp Tie as the model with the other ship base card.

It's a good 2 for 1 thematic freebie! :) I look forward to making a "Rebels" squad witht the VXC, phantom and 2 TIEs.

I hope Rex and Sabine share a ship base card...

Good set!

I think any faction would kill for a ship as "usable" as the Inquisitor. Also the TAP generics are definitely playable. If they had a tournament for the worst players in the world I'd probably be in it, so if I can do okay with a ship it can't be but so bad.
