Is he more of a brown color? Or is that like a metallic brass/bronze?

I painted my two groups of HK Assassin Droids differently. The more HK-47ish ones I gave a basecoat of Hashut Copper, then I gave that a pretty heavy wash of Agrax Earthshade. Highlights were with more Hashut Copper. If you really wanted to push the brightness, you could add some Runefang Steel or other bright silvery metallic color.

You could do it as more of a flat brown, but I like the metallic look.

IIRC... I primed black, drybrused with Hashut Copper, did the gun using the Sorastro technique (patent pending), and more or less called it a day. Spent a couple more minutes on the eyes, did some layering / shading, but not much.

They look better than my crap tier photography would suggest.

I believe that the correct colour is 'the proper rusty red that inspires fear in targets'.

I've yet to find a bottle of it yet.

My droids.

I painted my HK droid pairs differently. The non-elites I did trying to mimic the HK-50 look from Knights of the Old Republic 2. In some pictures they had this cyan hue which I liked so I washed the droids with a mixture of Nuln Oil and Coelia Greenshade. And highlighted with Runefang Steel with some Coelia Greenshade mixed into it to change the hue.

The Elites I painted with a mixture of red and Jokaero Orange. It's been so long that I can't remember the paints well but I think it was a mixture of red and orange paints to try and get the rust colored look right. And for highlights, more orange and / or yellow to lighten the color. The scratches are done with dark gray with some Runefang Steel in the middle. Finally I added a wash of Lahmian Medium and Screaming Skull (Sorastro introduced that wash in his Boba Fett video). The wash dulls the shine from the Runefang Steel as I didn't want that. But my elites are not shiny on purpose.

I mixed in some bronze with a little scarlet for the base coat. They were a little shiny for HKs, but it's no problem a little drybrushing can't handle.

I just used Liquitex Red Oxide for mine.

I used some cheap gold craft paint as a base, then just drowned them in Agarax Earthshade. I try to finish a group in 1-2 sittings (because, life), so I just paint them to table-top ready.

Looking good. I like them. Especially the bronze ones.

Painted 2 with that GW Tau orangey brown and the other 2 black. Did trim on both GW Warplock(?) Bronze to tie them to each other.

The art looks metallic copper or metallic brown. I've seen galleries where the normal hk was painted silver and the elites were copper.

Regardless, it's a great mini sculpt.
