Correllian Conflict fleet size question

By Zogwort, in Star Wars: Armada

Hello everyone,

I could have sworn that way back when the upcoming campaign was announced, that there would be rules for playing massive fleet sizes (up to 2000 points).

However, I can no longer find the source. Does anyone remember this or am I hallucinating? Lol.

It wasn't stated as playing a 2000pt Fleet.

It was up to a xxxxxpt game

The point being that, each of the fleets you have can get up to 500 points... They'll start at some level, most likely 400 - but might be able to get up to 500 if you're spending resources in that direction.

and that there may be a big, final, culmination battle with multiple fleets involved that will thus make a game that is 2000pts Plus.

In the haze that is my memory, I think there was something of that nature too, but I'm unsure where it came from.

There are only two official sources of information about this game, which are the two announcements:

Other than that, there's an interview that a friend of mine (Shmitty) did with Alex Davy at GenCon. You can find his blog post about that here:

If you find something about that there, it'd be great to learn about it. On a skim, I didn't see anything. It may have just been forum speculation.

From my memory of talking with the designer:

Fleets will start at 400 points.

They can grow from there.

They might shrink too, but Alex implied it was pretty forgiving.

If one side gets behind on campaign points they can go for a final, decisive battle. This would involve the 3 fleets from each side combining. So, a theoretical max of 1500 points a side.

Yeah, it seems like there's a hard ceiling of 500 points, and a soft floor under 400 points, depending how how badly you under-invest your repairs or fail to earn resource points.

Looks like there are 25 Planets on the map, that the Rebels and Imperials can fight over ;)

So to take them all with 3 games per round, would take in the region of 9x game rounds or more, if you only play a game at least once for each planet system.

You sir, must have an incredible large gaming table to want this. I can't even do 6x3.

Go big or go home.

At my FLGS, we have two big tables that could be put together for 4'x14' (or 8'x8' with overhang).

That would make for a really awesome final battle, no matter if the campaign inculcates it or not.

Unless people are really bitter or burnt out, it's easy to imagine that EVERY campaign will end with a big fight, regardless.

That would certainly be awesome and what I would hope for, but I doubt that the RAW calls for it. There's also a logistical threshold of getting everyone at the same place (with a big table) at the same time.

As the campaign seems to stand, you could deal with the Strategy and Management phases online, while only needing to physically meet up for the Battle Phase (and even that could be done on Vassal, for those who like or need to do that sort of thing).

I plan to slap the map and the tables with the lists up on a website so that everyone can view this in their away time.
