I put some emphasis on making sure there are a decent number of cheap cards. There are a total of 17 that can be played in your first turn, ie a card that can be purchased for 3 resources and 1 Loyalty Icon. Not only does this give you a good chance of being able to play a card in your first hand, but that you may be able to play a couple. Also, even after the KZ zone gets going, having some extra cheap cards help you spread more cards around than if too many expensive cards are in your hand, thus giving some additional flexibility. And finally, having this many cheap cards can help recover from an attack on the KZ zone. Even if there are a less resources to spend on the next turn because of an attack, having some cheapies can help repopulate KZ.


I splash a little Empire with the Judgment of Verana, Forced March and Will of the Electors. This can help me defend by being able to move my opponents units, and also can attack opponents developments and possible deal a fatal blow with J of V. I can also possibly help J of V with my Demolition.


The units are a blend of cheap ones I can use the get in early along with some expensive ones that can be played after I build my KZ. I hope to have Dwarf Cannon Crew in my beginning hand that get me off to a fast start since I can search my deck for support cards that cost 2 or less and put them into play. Also, I have some power with my Gurni's, Troll Slayers, and King Kalzador. Plus some toughness from Ironbreakers and Hammer of Karak. I already mentioned King Kalzdor, but I'll go ahead and mention him again since he is one tough hombre.
Tactics I've chosen help to assist my units by giving extra hammers via Striking the Grudge. Also, I have Stand your Ground to get a few of my heavy hitters back into action if they get killed. Combined with Master Rune of Valaya and Wake the Mountain, I'm able to defend against tough attacks.


Support helps with Resources in a big way. I have a few with 2 Pwr each and Contested Stronghold can be a gold mine, especially combined with Wake the Mountain.


Of course I add 2 A Glorious Death quests. Just having this in play alters how your opponent will chose to play their cards.
