Hawk Bat Swoop? Where did the hypen go? [Pedantic]

By HappyDaze, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

I never really paid attention to the way it was listed before, but why isn't there a hyphen in Hawk Bat Swoop?

In all of the previous materials, it's Hawk-Bat (with the hyphen). I don't see any reason why this would be an intentional change.

So, do you like it with or without the hyphen?

And yes, this really is pretty pointless, but you should have known that from reading the thread title. :P

Yeah, hawk-bat is supposed to be hyphenated.

The thing which always, always bugs me, whenever I read it or type it, is the missing hyphen in "Force Sensitive" (as in, Emergent or Exile).

Per usual rules (pedantic thread, remember), that one depends on whether it's being used as a noun (no hyphen) or an adjective (hyphen). This makes both of the following correct:

He is a Force sensitive.

He is a Force-sensitive human.

The hypen will be there in both of the Spec names because "Force-Sensitive" is being used as an adjective to modify "Emergent/Exile."

Where did it go? I think that hyphen is hanging out somewhere drinking a beer with a couple of your H's? :P

Permission to mentally slap me is given.

Apparently someone at Lucasfilm decided to get rid of the hyphen. It has been "hawkbat" in everything published since 2015.

(I was bored enough to do a web search.)

I will be enforcing the use of the Hyphen at my table!
