World record for fewest dice rolled in an attack?

By gamblertuba, in X-Wing

Managed to sneak my ghost into range one of Palob and mauled him including a weapons failure critical. He had to reply with his zero dice primary. Range one gives him one die against my zero.

Anyone able to beat that? Anyone ever see an attack with zero dice per side?

PS- Vassal is fun and people there are cool.

Actually I have seen a HWK with a Weapons Malfunction. In a matter of fact I seen a TIE Fighter with 2 face up both weapons malfunction.

But did they attack? I'm looking for an attack with 1 or fewer dice total from both players. HWK with weapons failure and tactician against a zero agility target at range 2 for example.

Yes they both made a range-1 one die attack.

Did the defender roll dice? And did they hit?

Palob hit.

Don't you always roll one die even if your attack has been reduced to zero?

I had a Darth with ATC once roll zero dice (I forget why), add his crit- which went through. Was a double damage card and killed the opponent.

Because he's Darth Vader.

I once had a TIE fighter with both a weapons malfunction and a structural damage trade shots with an ARC with a weapons malfunction and tail gunner from its rear arc at range 2. We each rolled 1 attack die and 1 agility die.

No. You can roll zero dice. That's how Blinded Pilot works in the original damage deck.

You roll your zero dice, then you get a modification step during which you can add results.

So, zero dice will never not be the answer to this question given that old Blinded Pilot exists.

The more interesting question is, HAVING rolled zero dice, what's the most damage it's possible to do...?

When rolling zero dice, accuracy corrector + Vader crew on the shuttle seems to be the way to go. ATC can add one result as can Fearlessness but neither can be used with each other, Vader crew or AC.

Yeah, AC is probably the best one.

Actually, A B wing with AC and Autoblaster, or a Ghost with AC and ABT. 2 guaranteed damage from 0 dice.

Shuttle with AB, AC and Vader Crew.

Fun thread, love it.....I've 'Vadered' ships to distruction before rolling blanks, once with one die, but never with no die; crazy!

Original deck Blinded Pilot versus a Decimator. Zero attack dice, zero defence dice.

I had a case where my Ventress dealt 5 hit (one of which was a crit) to another Ventress at range 1 (Fearlessness was involved) which destroyed the other ship. The crit was blinded pilot... no return fire.

Does that count?

Similar experience. I was running 3 scum hawks against a fat Han list. Had Dace and Palob with a weapons failure and the crit that disables the secondary weapon ( old damage deck) against Han at the end. I was trying to annoy my opponent into finishing off Palob to keep Dace alive long enough to kill him by having Palob continue to steal tokens. The lack of tokens alone helped. I whittled him down to one hull and had Palob at range 1 steal his evade token ( again). One die. One hit. He blanked.

Probably the most memerable game for me up yo this point.

Balindamood didnt mention this was also the top table final round of a tournament here :)

Old-deck Vader Decimators and Doom Shuttles used to roll zero-dice attacks that did a total of three damage between two ships when they got Blinded Pilot.
