Sabine's masterpiece.

I was messing around, theory crafting, and today i realized that you can put chewbacca crew inside sabine's tie.

Then I started to wonder if chewbacca could be used to his full effect, as his crew card makes no mention of a shield limit.

Can crewbacca cancel a damage and grant the tie fighter a shield? I will specifically point out that at no point, is recover ever defined in ffg's rules or FAQ.

I don't see no (up to your shield value)

i.e

I still wouldnt really do it since its a 4pt crew you discard. Even if he is basically a 7pt double mod that also lets you decide which card you want to get rid of rather than simply soak it.

Common sense says no. The rules are... otherwise.

If this was true we wouldn't need the "up to your shield value" clause on most other regen cards.

I'd argue that "recover" means you need to already have had it. But I've been wrong before.

Really, there's a case either way. FFG will FAQ to what it thinks is fair.

oh wait, here we go

SHIELDS
Shields allow a ship to suffer damage without the risk of
being dealt faceup Damage cards. The blue number on a
Ship card is the ship’s shield value, indicating how many
shield tokens to place on the Ship card during setup.
• A ship cannot have more shield tokens than its
shield value. If a ship has a number of shield tokens
equal to its shield value, it cannot recover shields.

Pretty spendy even if it does work.

Turns out, rules reference specifically says that you can't have shield tokens without the corresponding shield value.

Cue sad music.

Pretty spendy even if it does work.

with a printed value of 0, I'm guessing it don't

Didn't check all the rules before posting. Go home folks, nothing to see here.

I mean, Shield_Upgrade.png

but why would you :P ?

Yep this is the first ship that Chewie can go in where this is even a possibility. Until now all other rebel crew capable ships had at least one shield to start so the 'up to your value' part was not needed on him.

Although, I guess if he were in, say a HWK and a bomb or something caused damage that bypassed your 1 shield he could, as written, get you above your starting shield value also. I wonder if anyone has had this come up in a match.

Edit: Nevermind. Rules say, "Cannot" so that is that.

You could technically slap Shield Upgrade on there....

though thats 8 points on a TIE for technically +3 health (1 shield, discard a card so basically 1 hull, regen said shield). I could see that being a thing if it had some innate gimick that justifies making it twice as bulky, but only gimicks that come to mind involve said crew slot lol

but why would you :P ?

I just realized that Shield Upgrade's illustration is Chewi fixing the Falcon.

I play the game since Wave 1.

I really need to change my glasses.

well obviously

if he had installed engines, instead, they could've outrun tie fighters with 0 issue

how did you not see the bandolier

I always saw the ANH Mos Eisley imperial agent (the one with a trunk and goggles) next to a tube (like a bacta tank) with some kind of ball of energy inside (like the Lost Orb of Phanastacoria).

Absolutely no idea where did it come from.

Well, I guess I was attracted by the blue light and forgot to pay attention to the rest.

Also : this is not a card I use a lot.

Nah put cloaking device on it.

The Alliance just renegoiated the Treaty of Algeron with the Galactic Empire to allow one ship to have a cloaking device... oh wait, I'm getting things confused.

This would have been hilarious, get a shield on the first turn and then regen it later .... til I read further down the thread and found it didn't work :(

It would work if you equipped the SU mod on it. Only thin is that a 1/4 ship with 3 agility is not that hard to take down in a single turn. Just ask any 1 st Order player.

so until the other three are spoiled speculating whether Chewbacca

would or would not be worth it as a crew on a TIE is very premature.
