Are Tie sf fighters considered as tie fighters for the purpose of younster ability ?
Youngster vs Tie sf fighter
Yes. As are TIE/fo Fighters.
Indeed. But it's particularly nice for a TIE/sf as for the first time you have a 3-dice ship that can benefit, as well as a PS9 ship.
According to the new FAQ they aren't.
Where are you getting that from? Can you quote it? That's not what the old one said.
Youngster on the FAQ specifically mentions TIEs and TIE/fo, not TIE/sf.

It is explicit regarding TIE/fo but, for me at least, it is implied that the ruling is regarding "TIE Fighters".
If so then the TIE/sf should be included as well.

the /fo set precedent, which will absolutely not come back to bite ffg in the ass
I don't know how many times I gotta say this but the TIE./SF is a totally different ship from the TIE or its FO counterpart.

The TIE/sf has "TIE" and "Fighter" on it's card. Therefore, I don't see why it wouldn't benefit from Youngster's ability.
Personally i say it works, as it is still called a TIE Fighter. Dont care if it specifically mentions tie/fo because the literal same exact reason the tie/fo had been included, the tie/SF will. They probably didnt include it because either 1) its the same situation as the fo, so it applies anyway or 2) it wasnt brought up enough for them to notice people are questioning it.
Though i still dont like youngster. Need an EPT action that isnt suicide or useless first.
Fully plan on running a gozanti with 4 SFs w/ AC though. Have the deploy 4 at once title, deploy 2 with 1hards and 2 with 3hards and splitfire AC for SO MUCH DAMAGE! lol
My last post was just saying why someone would think that it doesnt.

When the note about Youngster working with TIE/FOs was added to the FAQ, the TIE/SF wasn't out yet.
As has been said the words "TIE" and "Fighter" are on the SF (and FO) cards. Therefore Youngster ability works and they can be docked to a Gozanti. Same logic as the TIE/x1 title being usable on Darth's TIE Advanced x1 even though it says TIE Advanced only on the title. If FFG didn't want it that way they would have given the ship a different name (in the same way as the TIE Adv Prototype so it can't take the TIE/x1 title) or they'll errata it...

The TIE Advanced and TIE Advanced Proto types was specifically noted in the FAQ.
Otherwise, I would believe, the rest of the rules stand. TIE Fighter appears in the ship type TIE/sf Fighter. There is no reason to think, that I am aware of, that Youngster should not work with a TIE/sf Fighter.

The same rule applies as, on the card, it's a TIE Adv Prototype so doesn't have the word "Advanced" in it. If it did you could take the TIE/x1 title.
