Z-95 Modifications/Custom build

By william1134, in X-Wing Painting and Modification

Hi all,

I am not a massive fan of how the Z-95 looks... it looks rather clunky and I want to do some modifications to it. Maybe chop up the wings, or move the guns etc..

However I don't see much inspiration around online with mostly just repaints dominating.

So, please post any mods/customisations on your Z-95s! :)

not much of a modification but I added a small pair of wings to one, to make it look a bit more like the ship that inspired the paintjob

Look for Z-95 MK1 pictures ;)

You could go for the TCW model: double engines instead of quads, wings point back rather than forwards, small nose fins like the ones you added and much shorter wing cannons.

I am surprised that there hasn't been much modifications made to this ship. I could do that MK1 as it certainly looks better!

Ooooooo, simple yet elegant. It gives the model an entirely new look. Nice work.

I'm working in one with the wings of a Tie Phantom, and looks better than the original Z-95. Pictures soon :)

this looks great, just putting canards on the front section changes the look of the ship.

good job :D

If you go Picture hunting on the Net, you can find some different variations of the Z95.

Here are two models I converted a while ago, both have wing conversions made from plastic styrene card.

Here is the second version with a new repaint, it looks like an early E wing with the engines slung under the wings.

Be good to see what you come up with when you make modifications to your Z95's

All the best,

Barry.

oh wow, those three look FANTASTIC and is exactly what I am looking for. I don't have any spare parts to salvage but I do have some plastiboard, so I can probably do something similar to what you have done Barry.

Hi Will,

Sorry about the late reply.....lots of work on !

But glad the Zss give you a few ideas

As to how to approach your version.

Just think of them as a blank canvas.

All sorts of things could be done with them.

Look forward to seeing what you

Come up with.

All the best,

Barry.

There are also several Z-95 variants available as 3D printed models from Shapeways.

We don't talk about Shapeways on the painting forum.....the reason it was removed is precisely due to unlicensed products being shown in the Painting Forum.

We don't want to lose it again.

Regards

Barry.

I have weird dreams, and by that first order logic, I of course had a dream how to modify a Z-95. Sadly the funds arnt here to try it. (and prob mess up a few times)

Take the Z-95 main hull, chop off the engines and wings, then remove the wings from the engines, now take a Arc-170, remove the wings and engines, put the engines from the Arc on the Z-95. then attach the wings from the Z-95 onto the new engines, making sure to carve it so it form fits in there.

Repaint so its a white and red, if you really want a slight bit more of customizing if you decide to make 3 of them, also give one of them two tiny "fins" on the nose of the ship on each side to show which one is the "Wing leader"

It should look simlar to the Clone Z-95 when your done.

Haha, not going to do anything that drastic as all I have is one Z-95 and some plastiboard plus greenstuff to play with.

At the moment I absolutely love what Barry has done, though I think the latter two are too similar to E-wings.

Very cool mods.
