So Objective Types in Corellain Conflict, how do they work?

By Marinealver, in Star Wars: Armada

I was hoping for using certain objectives to make certain actions on the board. For example the objective types. Red for Assault, Yellow for Defense, Blue for Navigation. So I was thinking that Red would be for taking systems, Yellow would be for protecting systems from having objectives played on them and Blue would be for moving through systems but not exactly taking them. Well that turns out not to be the case but now there are Green objectives aka Special Assault. I guess I have two questions.

  1. Green Objectives will never be played in a standard game right?
  2. What are the other objective types for and how do they affect the board?

So how are the objectives in Armada going to work?

The Green Objectives are not for Standard games. They are worked into the Framework of the Campaign, and a standard game doe snot have the Triggers involved...

- In a Standard game, or a Tournament, for example, you cannot declare a Special Assault, so those ones do not apply.

- In a standard game, or a Tournament, for example, you are never designated as attacking an enemy Base, sot he Base missions do not apply.

I figure, if you are not attacking an Enemy Base, and not making a Special Assault.... And not doing something that involves a Green Mission in some way, shape or form, you Conform to the BASE RULES of the Game, with the Campaign Exception:

The Person declaring the Assault has Initiative.

So The player Defending will have their Objectives used...

NOW. We havn't seen WHAT happens with the Objectives, only the mysterous (+3 Objectives) written as a Point on the Map, which I am surei will be revealed at some point.

At the moment, my personal speculation is that you only have certain objectives that you can assign to a fleet (when the fleet is built, as per normal), and those positions allow you to add additional objectives over your fleets....

But beyond that, its unknown and only speculation.

I'm not sure yet, but I think that it would be good to get an accounting of them.

Thus far, we know that there will be 12 new objectives in total. We've already had 3 standard (tournament-legal upon release) objectives, and 5 campaign-related objectives revealed. That leaves another 4 objectives.

By the wording, it seems like the two 'special assault' objectives are the only special assault objectives we'll see. Maybe, we'll get a fourth Base Defense objective, and then three additional tournament-legal objectives. But, who knows. Maybe there is another category of campaign-related objective cards that have yet to be revealed.

As far as I can read in the July article, the 12 objectives that are mentioned are "normal" objective like we have now, and the new ones from the article seem to be additional "campaign" objectives.

I believe this is true.

On closer reading, I think you're probably right about that.

Not probably. It IS correct. 12 standard objectives, 4 or each type.

3 have been revealed: Station Assault, Jamming something, Salvage Run

And notice that Station Assault is a "standard" version of the Show of Force special objective.

So we might expect other normal objectives to be reflections of the special campaign objectives.
