Lieutenant card question

By Kaaihn, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

I just got in the Lieutenant expansions for all the Lieutenants in the core set. Am I supposed to replace all the Lieutenant cards from the core set with the ones from each expansion? They are all different in that they have a note on the bottom of the back that says Agent, but more importantly some of their abilities are slightly different.

Some add tests, some remove tests, some changed a test from the LT making it to the hero having to make it, etc.

My core set is 2nd ed, but the older one, it came with the Shadow quest if that matters.

The Agent cards do not replace the Lieutenant cards.

If you use a Plot deck from one of the LT packs (which give the OL a bunch of new, dirty tricks), then they have a Summon (Agent) card which basically allows the OL to replace a few monsters with the LT mini during Setup. For balancing and ruling reasons, it is referred to as Agent, not Lieutenant, and the new Agent card is used. Lieutenants in the story quests still use the old LT cards.

Winnetou is right. No cards in the LT packs replace base game cards. You can use the mini to replace the token, but that is merely cosmetic.

From a game mechanic perspective, agents and lieutenents are rather different things.

Great, thank you for the answers!

Agents and lieutenant ARE different in mechanics

A lieutenant is a monster from his own group and is a lieutenant.

An agent is a master monster in the group it is added and not a lieutenant.

Also, agent cannot wield a relic and fails all tests.

Since an Agent si a master monster, it's something logic
