What sort of expansion wouldn't you dare hope for?

By Mikael Hasselstein, in Star Wars: Armada

Death Star II with new quick-fire super laser, and Kung-fu grip.

But with a twist

IG-88 is at the helm. Can the combined night of the rebel and imperial navy bring it down before it can escape to rampage across the galaxy? Each round a ship will be removed from the board regardless of condition in this tense Coop battle to the death.

I'm asking for the things they wouldn't produce.

They already made the MC80 Home One. And it does come in a box.

Some players say their smaller mc30 in a box is just as good as the larger mc80....

It's all in how you use it. A capable fleet commander should be able to compensate for the lack of an mc80. A well used mc30 in it's primary purpose of quick precise strikes, in and out, can cause quite a bit of chaos!

As for wishes. The Eclipse, hands down, it'll never happen though.

More Refit for more variety. More titles .

If you had asked this question in June I would have described something like the Corellian Conflict. I mean we get:

  • A map-based, narrative campaign structure with persistent damage between games and the chance to build to larger fleets.
  • 12 new objectives to add our regular games.
  • New squadron types to add variety to our existing squadrons.

And for only $30? Seriously, this is a dream expansion. I hope FFG sees it as successful so that we get more expansions along the same line.

Star Wars Ground Command

Because IA is already out

But IA would almost never release an AT-AT(i fink)

Yuuzhan Vong.

But seriously, Armada Epic.

Thats actually possible with the campaigns. ffg can simply say that some of these refits were local to the respective system in conflict and add it to the campaign for "theme and flavour"

Yeah, no kidding. It's what I've been dreaming about for a long time.

I was actually thinking about on the drive home, like a generic title for the CR-90 "Combat Refit" 1 additional hull point, 1 additional shield fore, port and starboard, (maybe aft as well) 20 points, cannot equip any additional titles. And something similar for the Nebulon-B that adds additional shields (fore, port/starboard) and maybe an extra blue anti-starfighter die, similar restriction on the title.

Something like Corelian Conflict with named rouges and wave 5 squadrons

A new Victory.

The only crappy part about this expansion is there is little to no reason for purchasing it more than once. I guess I will have to reward FFG by buying a bunch of wave 5 stuffs...

Why is that necessarily a crappy part?

Sure, it might bring down FFG's profit margin on the product alone. At the same time, it answers the prayers of a lot of people who are not as tournament minded as others are. As such, it might be a sales multiplier for their other expansions.

Speak for yourself.

I need to get at least 2 copies for my League.

I think you guys are misunderstanding my facetious post. I think this new expansion is absolutely lovely and I would buy it a billion times if I had a reason. So instead I'll buy a billion of their other products :P

All ships AND squads in scale with each other. For the truly. Crazy.

Would be great to have an expansion that is availible at the date they said... Or at least they should try to supply the rest of the world like they do with the US! You know I`m looking forward to next week, just because there are some rumours going round saying WAVE IV is availible then....

A shipyard style pack with new obstacles, a new station model, new upgrades and new ttiles

It's actually $70 after you factor in the squadron packs (unless you're one of those people who has 3+ already).

Only if you're buying new Squadron Packs.

You don't have to, after all.

¿Que?

I'm not following the argument here.

Though I do have 3 Imperial squadron packs and two (Imperial halves of) R&V .

Their argument is, essentially that since the Campaign contains the Squadron Discs, but no Stands or Fighters, you are compelled to Purchase new Squadron packs in order to exchange the discs there and utilise said Corellian Campaign Squadrons.

Essentially. I think one could get away with 2 packs, but 1 pack seems like it's a bit of a stretch, but maybe that's just me.

What?!

Okay sorry, man. I've got a very small violin playing for you. :P

In other news: I put my pre-order for the Corellian Conflict today, and I'm starting to put out feelers to see who will be on board for a campaign.

Also, while I know that we should play the first campaign in the RAW, I'm already thinking about how it might be fleshed out more - including raids on civilian shipping and Imperial Assault battles over space stations.

....but I have to wait. It's still only 'At the Printer'. Unless.....! *looks it up*.... hm, no, it's still 'At the Printer'.

It could also be that "At the Printer" is "At the Printer", but the "Printer" in this case is the FFG Inhouse Manufacturing, which means it would go almost straight from "At the Printer" to "Shipping now."

...

There.

It cannot be said that I don't have effin' hope.
