How to Arc it up!

By Greedyfly, in X-Wing

Hey everyone, I'm trying to get as much info on people's experiences with single arcs in a list. With the current meta you have some hard hitting lists out there such as the party bus with uboats. Some hard to hit lists such as palp defenders and list that kinda fit in the middle of those such as dangaroo and the mararoo specials. Like a lot of people I am time poor and I'm absorbing as much info about the Arc from these forums as I can.

With the return of the store champ season upon us, the choice of single arc list seams to fall into 2 groups

Nora high damage output

Braylen stress control

With such hard hitting alpha strike lists as the Fenaroo , Biggs is nearly an auto include for an arc list. So my friends, from your experiences how have you all been Arcing it up.

Just starting out. My attempt is trolling my opponent into surrendering.

Experimenting - Copy (100)

Norra Wexley (38) - ARC-170

Push The Limit (3), Tail Gunner (2), R2-D2 (4), Alliance Overhaul (0)

Miranda Doni (38) - K-Wing

Twin Laser Turret (6), C-3PO (3)

Red Squadron Pilot (24) - X-Wing

R2 Astromech (1), Integrated Astromech (0)

Just use both!

, in very simple terms, though nothing competes with braylen/thane stress due to the impossible to overstate utility of the aux arc with r3a2

Meanwhile norra, while monstrous, iscrebel regen and we have at least 4 of those to choose from

Shes my favorite (apart from miranda but i prefer miranda with bombs and sabine) but shes not the only one

I have been toying with a simular list but with a Gold/TLT instead of the Red sq. That way I can keep the whole list on the run while still getting shots in (Norra can obviously run and shoot with her rear arc). I feel that if I have Biggs or another front arc ship I have to be commited to some type of formation flying or jousting in order for that 3rd ship to be of any use. Besides, TLTs are more useful now with all those Defenders flying around.

The problem with committing so much to TLTs is it's not enough for fire spam to overwhelm certain Palp supported aces. This also gives me a slight pilot skill advantage to play with for other spammy lists. The Xwing has some potent guns, so if it's ignored it punishes them. If they shoot it first, great, cheep Biggs! I don't intend to go full tight formation either. Miranda is more a rogue element for flanking and harassing... Or bait if she is priority one.

I'm hoping to to find a great balance with some of the existing ships available to the rebels. I'd like to not have to rely on having a close to full squad of the latest ships to be competative. Ultimately if I have too, I will succumb to buying another Arc.

Nora with ptl, title, r2d2 and tail gunner

Biggs r4d6 and IA

Miranda with tlt

This is looking like it could be a solid late game list but could suffer to Sontir and the wolf pack.

I also like

Braylen, r3a2 gunner, title

Biggs, r4d6

Vcx with chopper pilot, Hera fcs, autoblaster

I think this could be a solid hard hitting list that shuts down any hopes for actions action

If you can have only one ARC i would pick Stressmule each time to be honest.

Allow me to explain.

I HATE the Stresshog. I hate it so freaking much.

It was incredibly effective while it was around, but i hated it. I hated flying it, i hated how you could play games where it gets nuked out of the fight before it even did anything. I hated how if you misjudged an angle, it was out of the fight until you could 2 turn back into the fight. I hate how my attacks never hit because it never had modification. I hate how it was PS 2.

I LOVE the Stressmule. I love it so freaking much.

It's incredibly effective. I love flying it, i love how even after the first pass, you're going to get shots out of the rear and thus get your double stress off on everyone, because it's so much harder than people expect to avoid that rear arc. I love how even if you misjudge an angle, you can just do a GREEN BANK MANEUVER and you're fine again. I love how no matter what, it's not really ever out of the fight. I love how Braylen will drop double stress sometimes and you'll actually get an action. I love how the rear arc has auto-modification. I love how i one-shotted Soontir Fel because i double stressed him the turn before and he landed in my arc at range 1 the next turn, because i actually roll 3 attack out the front normally, and how even if i miss, i can Gunner for a second chance. I love forcing my opponent to choose between taking damage, or getting double stressed and maybe taking damage anyways. I love that it's at least PS 3. I love how it never dies before doing SOMETHING.

Look, Norra is great. I love Norra, she's my favorite pilot in the game by far. But she's just hard-hitting Regen. There's a decent amount of that. Poe will do that too, so will Miranda. But Braylen.... Braylen is the only one that can do Braylen things.

Nooooooooooooooooooo

Oneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Fails like our Stramm

Rolls red dice like our Stramm

Takes two stress to then stack with the rest like our Stramm

IT'S JUST SOMETIMES I FORGET MY ABILITY

My what a guy, our Stramm!

WHEN I WAS A LAD

I KNEW THAT FIFTY PERCENT

GENERALLY JUST MEANT HALF THE TIME

BUT NOW THAT I'M GROWN

AND I'M FLYING AN ARC

I TAKE UPWARDS OF SIX ROUNDS TO FUDGE (my rolls)

but yeah, the guy's a great asset regardless :P

I've been running

Norra Wexley (37)

Push the Limit (3), Kyle Kataarn (3), BB-8 (2), Alliance Overhaul (0)

I've found this makes for a maneuverable and tokened beast, particularly if you have enough points for an engine upgrade (4).

I've recently picked up a couple K-Wings and have been wanting to use one, and I also picked up an ARC over the weekend, so I've been thinking about using the following 100pt list:

Braylen Stramm

-Luke

-Alliance Overhaul

-R3-A2

Tarn Mison

-R7 Astromech

-Integrated Astromech

Wardan Squadron Pilot

-TLT

-Extra Munitions

-Sabine Wren

-Proximity Mines

-Proximity Mines

-Advanced SLAM

There's some room for modification for more points there: drop Luke for Gunner, lose a Proximity Mine, lose both mines and the extra munitions in favor of using a different crew outher than Sabine if you don't want the K as a bomb platform... I'm not sure how it'll play and I actually can't remember where I saw the list posted, but I'm gonna give it a try this weekend if I can get over being sick.

This is what I am looking forward to running when my ARC arrives

100 points

45 points
• Miranda Doni
K-Wing

Twin Laser Turret

Extra Munitions

Sabine Wren

Conner Net

Advanced SLAM

26 points
• Biggs Darklighter
X-Wing
R4-D6
Integrated Astromech
29 points
• Braylen Stramm
ARC-170

R3-A2

Tail Gunner

Alliance Overhaul

When HOTR releases I will probably replace Biggs with Tarn + M9-G8.

With such hard hitting alpha strike lists as the Fenaroo , Biggs is nearly an auto include for an arc list. So my friends, from your experiences how have you all been Arcing it up.

I'll warn you that Fenn Rau is one of the few Pilots Biggs often doesn't help much against - since he tends to hoon into close range to use his ability, and has the agility to position himself so he doesn't have a shot at the mustachioed one.

Not that I'm trying to warn you off using Biggs, but remember that reverse-arc-dodging him is easiest at close range, which is exactly where Rau tends to be.

Hmmm, I like the look of that list. I might have to try it sometime soon. I've already used the VCX and Biggs three or four times over the past couple weeks. Seems like Biggs should have an Integrated Astromech on him though. I mean, it costs 0pts, no reason not to.

I ran Fenn against Biggs, Jan & Poe. They ran formation at him, he had great rolls and Palob and IG-88B came up from behind. They lit him up and he gone. Fenn's greens were another story, sadly enough. He gone, too.

I flew Norra with Rainbow Dash for the first time last night. First time with Norra and with Rainbow Dash, to be honest. Norra got the focus as he moved towards her. I should've gone for the 2 hard turn and kept the stress, but went for the 2 bank instead. I ended up bumping his Z-95 blocker when I thought I was clear, and was then Fenn Rau'ed down in that one turn.

Rainbow Dash then does what he does and won me the whole game. Man, I hate Dash.

I was thinking...what about a Thane+Extramunition+Sabine+any action bomb? You can bring 2 of them, and just release bombs during the combat phase thanks to his ability.

You don't need to do it, but is a possibility. With Vectored Thrusters, if you can trigger him twice, you can Broll+drop.
