IG-88E´s weapon shop: Some ideas for new cannons

Welcome! There are too few cannons out there. I want to introduce you to some ideas I had for cannons that I think could be fun to use. Some of them with potentially intesting mechanic. Tie/D title was considered making point costs. I hope you enjoy them. If yes, I can add some more ;)

Precision cannon

You get an original 3 dice attack but with better accuracy

Repetitive cannon

An in-built pseudo gunner. Good against terrible first rolls, fantastic against low agility ships and dirty tricks with tactician or R3-A2

Perforation cannon

Anti swarm and Biggs. Fun with Dash. Force your opponent to spread

Ships which have at least one cannon slot:

B-wing, Shuttle, Aggressor, YV-666, YT-2400, Firespray-31, TIE Defender, M3-A Interceptor,

Tractor Beam Token, Ion Token, Stress Token, Crits, Face up damage.

Single, Dual, Quad. Mix it up a bit.

Heavy Ion Cannon

(Two cannon slots)

5 pts

4 attack, 1-3 range

If this attack hits cancel all results and place two ion tokens on target, and target suffers one critical damage.

Jammer Cannon

1 pt

3 attack, range 1-3

If this attack hits place jammer token on target.

Each jammer token reduces attack dice by one for any attacks the target initiates. Jammer tokens are removed at the end phase

Precision Cannon had me scratching my head, but then I saw its benefit. Nice idea!

Perforation Cannon is a very cool idea, but ought to cost a lot more I think.

Range: 1-3

Attack: 3

Cost: 0

If this attack hits, cancel all dice results. Opponent must put on a clean shirt or forfeit the game.

Yes the perforation cannon is hard to make good point costs. On specific situations he can be devastating, in other situations just a point sink. Maybe instead of making it more expensive rather restricting the range to 1-2

If your target is a U-boat, x7 defender, Fel or palp shuttle roll as many extra attack dice as you can find.

Precision Laser Cannon Range:1-3 Attack:4

Attack (Target Lock):

Spend your target lock to attack one ship. After dealing damage, assign 1 Stress token to the Defender for each damage card dealt.

Linked Cannons

When attacking with your Primary weapon at Range 3, you may roll 4 Attack dice, ignoring all range modifiers. You cannot equip any other [Cannon] upgrades.

(Cannon) 4 Points

Defense Array Dual Card

Side 1: Increase your Shield value by 1. At the start of the activation phase, if you have at least 1 Shield token, assign one Evade token to your ship.

(Cannon) 4 Points

Side 2: Increase your Shield value by 1. At the start of the activation phase, if you have at least 1 Shield token, assign one Evade token to your ship.

Canon Cannon

Target only 'non-canon' ships, where canon ships are listed on the Canon Rules Card . If this weapon hits change target ship to a TIE Fighter with 2 facedown damage cards.

I'm surprised the Torpedo slot got an 'action' torp before the Cannon slot did, especially since I was betting the Tractor Beam was going to be the stereotypical action cannon.

Proposed earlier:

Heavy Ion cannon (scyk only)

3attack dice, 1-3, if hit suffer 1 damage and 2 ion tokens, then cancel results. Or maybe range onky 1-2, but more dice?

A Heavy Flechette cannon which allows stacking stress (i.e. more than the puny 1 stress of yhe current flechette).

Chain cannon:

Attack 2:

If this attack hits, you may perform this attack again.

Flash Cannon:
Attack 3:
After this attack, reduce the defender's agility by 1 for the rest of the turn.

These are a few ideas that I've had for a while:

Armor Piercing Laser
Attack: (5 dice, range 1-3):
If this attack hits, the defender suffers one critical damage.

Then cancel all dice results.
Cost 6

Good for cracking aces like Soontir.

Antimatter Cannon
Attack: (3 dice, range 1-3):
After all dice modifications are made, cancell all (hit) and (critical hit) results.

Then change all remaining die results to (hit) results.
Cost 4

I just think this would be cool. Totally destroys Sensor Jammers.

Long-Range Cannon
Attack: (3 dice, range 1-5):
The defender rolls one additional dice against this attack.
Cost 3

As discussed on many threads, any long range cannons probably need to come with an epic/huge ship so that new players get the long range ruler to go with them. But I think it's bogus that range 4 and 5 attacks don't exist in the normal 100-point game.

Twin Laser Cannon
Attack: (3 dice, range 2-3):
Perform this attack twice. Each time this attack hits, the defender suffers

one critical damage. Then cancel all dice results.
Cost 5

Ion Cannons and Ion Turrets, Autoblaster Cannons and Autoblaster Turrets, where's the Twin Laser Cannon?

Hey, you're right! I think it needs to be something that doesn't do too much damage (like Tractor Beam) to not be too OP, since you still get to attack too:

Adv. Sensor Jammer

Action: (3 dice, range 1-2):

If this attack hits, the defender receives one stress token.

Then cancel all dice results.

Cost 2

​Not that tough upon initial inspection, but if you can hit an ace with this before they move, you can deny them all their actions! Still doesn't beat Soontir though...

Edit: yes, I know it's basically a weaker Flechette Cannon with "action" instead of "attack"....

Perform this attack four times. Your dice may not be modified.

Cost 5

Prototype Heavy Laser Cannon

Attack: (4 dice, range 2-3):

After rolling dice, convert all (critical hit) results

​to (hit) results, then receive one stress token.

If this attack hits, the defender suffers one additional damage.

If this attack misses, the attacker suffers one critical damage.

HT-12 Heavy Laser Cannon

​StarViper only

Attack: (4 dice, range 1-3):

After rolling dice, convert all (critical hit) results
