Gladiator Drift? Maybe Just Madness

By TheBastirous, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

I may be a fool, but it seems like a cool combo for Gladiator SDs is to have Wuleff+Nav Team onboard. Execute a nav command every turn for the +1 yaw? If Ozzel is your admiral you also get to change speed as needed. Sounds cool to me.

Probably not good to sink those points into a tricked out Demolisher, or even a tricked out basic Gladiator, but seems like a nice boost to have on one of your Glads.

Perfectly legit. Just beware of tractor beams taking the token. Wuluff only works once per turn,

Not quite sure what your rules question is?

He might be asking if the combo is legit?

In which case, yes it is.

Wulff let's you get one token back per turn that you spend.

With Nav Teams you can use your token for either speed or yaw, and an email answer verified that even if you add 1 use, Ozzel will still give you a speed change as well.

Alternatively, you could run Wulff plus Engine Techs to always get the extra movement (which in some cases could be better, some cases worse than the extra yaw from Nav Teams)

To be honest, though, I'd drop Wulff for Intel Officer, and just use Nav commands anyway. When Wave 1 first came out I used Wulff a lot, but having the actual Nav every turn is really awesome. I think Nav commands are easy for newer players to underestimate. They are probably tied with Squadron commands for my favorite command.

Like I saw someone say once, a well timed nav command can be game-changing.

Why not take Engine Techs instead?

If you're going Ozzel+Wulff that gives you a control over speed and yaw that Nav Team just can't compete with.

4 points more of course, but those are points well spent.

I used to put Wulff on Demolisher a lot but then switched to veteran captain as I would bank a Nav token turn 1 and the captain gave me a spare and I found that was usually enough as Demolisher had a big target over its head and didn't last that long.

Now I switched again to skilled first officer and I just plot alternate Nav and CF commands.

Ouzel, engine tec and nav like its 1999.....

And when BH slicer-tractors you, you can get a new nav token from Comms net and a new dial from SFO :D

Aresko is a good alt to Wulf as well, gotta keep another ship within 3 but makes it harder to tractor away the token.
